Mechanochemistry harnesses mechanical force to facilitate chemical reactions. Traditionally, the field of polymer mechanochemistry has used methods to activate chemical bonds, which use forces that are larger than those that are required to break a covalen ...

The invention describes a composition containing a) a functionalized polymer (10) that comprises at least one polyester segment (13) and at least one, in particular at least two, polymer aggregating segment (11, 12) capable of forming non-covalent bonds ba ...

Electrocatalysts play an important part on the route towards environmental friendly energy sources. They support modern technologies like fuel cells to move further away from the utilization of fossil fuels and the resulting CO2 emission into our atmospher ...

The invention describes a composition containing a) a functionalized polymer (10) that comprises at least one polymer segment (13) and at least two polymer aggregating segments (11,12) capable of forming non-covalent bonds based on a supramolecular interac ...

The thesis describes the utilization of dative boron-nitrogen bond is used for the construction of new materials. In chapter 2.1, the synthesis of new organogels based on bisimidazolyl ligands and diboronate esters is described. Gels with a critical gel co ...

Synthesis and characterization of polymer-based composites containing carbon nanostructures is the focus of this dissertation. The main polymer which has been used for this research is SU8. The motivation of the work is to overcome the drawbacks of SU8 e.g ...

Boosted by the technological advances in experimental techniques, cellular biology is nowadays facing the need for quantitative approaches in order to rationalize the huge amount of collected data. A particularly succesfull theoretical framework is provide ...

Over the last ten years the attention of the pharmaceutical industry has shifted away from small molecules to focus on new biologics such as antibodies, proteins and therapeutic peptides. Herein, peptides have emerged as a particularly interesting category ...

This work describes the synthesis and characterization of boronic acid-based supramolecular structures. Different reversible interactions such as boronate ester formation, imine condensation and dative B–N bond formation are used to assemble macrocycles, c ...

This work describes the use of boron-nitrogen dative bonds in supramolecular chemistry. Molecular tectons have been synthesized for crystal engineering. These tectons are linked via B-N dative bonds to form 1-dimensional polymers and macrocycles. B-N dativ ...

Heteroditopic monomers containing an arylboronate ester and a dialkyl-4-aminopyridine group aggregate via dative boron–nitrogen bonds to give main chain supramolecular polymers. The degree of polymerization can be tuned by changing the electronic and steri ...

This paper reports on the cell uptake and trafficking properties of a series of non-covalent polymer-drug conjugates. These nanomedicines are composed of a poly(N-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide) backbone functionalized with multiple copies of a drug. The ...

This thesis explores different aspects of DNA topology through experimental and numerical techniques. Topology is a vast mathematical field, that deals with the spatial properties of objects undergoing continuous deformations, but here it is restricted to ...

The preparation of synthetic polymers with exact control over chain length and monomer sequence is one of the long-standing challenges in polymer science. Nature perfectly masters the synthesis of high molecular weight, perfectly monodisperse polypeptides ...

This feature article provides a compilation of tools available for preparing well-defined peptide/protein–polymer conjugates, which are defined as hybrid constructs combining (i) a defined number of peptide/protein segments with uniform chain lengths and d ...

The aim of this thesis was to explore the statistical physics and the mechanical properties of individual biomolecules, to study their interactions, and to develop new techniques based on atomic force microscopy (AFM). First, we exploit the high resolution ...

A series of imidazolium dicarboxylic acids have been prepd. from the reaction of the 1,3-bis(carboxymethyl)imidazolium zwitterion with the Bronsted acids HX (X = F, Br, Cl, ClO4). The structures of these acids have been established in the solid ...
