In traditional power delivery networks, the on-chip supply voltage is provided by board-level converters. Due to the significant distance between the converter and the load, variations in the load current are not effectively managed, producing a significan ...

Power distribution systems are experiencing a largescale integration of Converter-Interfaced Distributed Energy Resources (CIDERs). This complicates the analysis and mitigation of harmonics, whose creation and propagation are facilitated by the interaction ...

Climate change and increased urban population are two major concerns for society. Moving towards more sustainable energy solutions in the urban context by integrating renewable energy technologies supports decarbonizing the energy sector and climate change ...

Energy demand for cooling of buildings is projected to drastically increase in the next decades. Urban areas in tropical Asia are expected to contribute a major share to this growing demand. These areas are characterized by a high urban density and a diver ...

The Frenkel-Kontorova model for dislocation dynamics from 1938 is given by a chain of atoms, where neighbouring atoms interact through a linear spring and are exposed to a smooth periodic on-site potential. A dislocation moving with constant speed correspo ...

We analyze the numerical performance of a preconditioning technique recently proposed in [1] for the efficient solution of parametrized linear systems arising from the finite element (FE) discretization of parameter-dependent elliptic partial differential ...

The estimation of a random vector with independent components passed through a linear transform followed by a componentwise (possibly nonlinear) output map arises in a range of applications. Approximate message passing (AMP) methods, based on Gaussian appr ...

The problem of optimal control of power distribution systems is becoming increasingly compelling due to the progressive penetration of distributed energy resources in this specific layer of the electrical infrastructure. Distribution systems are, indeed, e ...

The PS accelerator (Proton-Synchrotron) at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) is composed of one hundred magnets connected in series. During a cycle of 2.4 seconds, the active power at the magnets terminals varies from plus to minus 40 MW. A ...
