Nonlinearity of dynamic systems plays a key role in neuromorphic computing, which is expected to reduce the ever-increasing power consumption of machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. For spin waves (magnons), nonlinearity combined with ...

Optical microresonators with high quality (Q) factors are essential to a wide range of integrated photonic devices. Steady efforts have been directed towards increasing microresonator Q factors across a variety of platforms. With success in reducing microf ...

The possibility of obtaining spectra of the complex refractive index of mononucleotide films deposited on a polished silicon wafer in the terahertz (THz) range has been shown for the first time. The transmission of biopolymer samples was measured using a T ...

Narrowband photodetectors are useful for a myriad of applications involving color discrimination as well as biological imaging and machine vision. Prevalent devices use broadband light absorbing materials in conjunction with electric (charge collection nar ...

Femtosecond laser pulses have opened new frontiers for the study of ultrafast phase transitions and nonequilibrium states of matter. In this Letter, we report on structural dynamics in atomic clusters pumped with intense near-infrared (NIR) pulses into a n ...

We demonstrate highly efficient Terahertz production and absolute phase control in the hardly accessible THz frequency gap (1-15 THz) by optical rectification in organic crystals leading to single-cycle field oscillations beyond 150MV/m and 0.5 Tesla. ...

High resolution IR spectra of aniline, styrene and 1,1-diphenylethylene cations embedded in superfluid helium nanodroplets have been recorded in the 300-1700 cm-1 range using the free-electron laser FELIX as radiation source. Comparison of the spectra with ...

We present a broadband two-dimensional transient absorption setup for the UV around 300 nm with a time resolution of 150 fs. A narrowband, frequency tunable pump pulse and a broadband probe pulse are generated from the output of a noncollinear optical para ...

In recent years, spectroscopic investigations of cold, biomolecular ions have started to provide new, detailed information about the structures of biomolecules in the gas phase. The present work comprises three major parts that describe the development of ...

We here propose a novel technique for realizing the multiplication of the pulse repetition rate with a flexibly tunable multiplication factor, based on dynamic Brillouin grating (DBG) reflectors implemented in highly birefringent fibers. ...
