It has been shown that the coherent detection of long range (LoRa) signals only provides marginal gains of around 0.7 dB on the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. However, ALOHA-based massive Internet-of-Things systems, including LoRa, often ope ...

The increasing luminosity in HEP (High Energy Physics) colliders demands trigger systems to be more selective. First, more information from the detector is routed to the trigger system. Second, larger parts of this information are processed together. These ...

To overcome the multipath interference in locating transient electromagnetic (EM) radiation sources in an indoor environment, we propose a criterion that calculates the correlation between back-propagated signals from observation points, to be used in EM t ...

Deficit Round-Robin (DRR) is a widespread scheduling algorithm that provides fair queueing with variable-length packets. Bounds on worst-case delays obtained with DRR were found by Boyer et al. They used a rigorous network calculus approach and characteriz ...

In the Shannon lecture at the 2019 International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), Arikan proposed to employ a one-to-one convolutional transform as a pre-coding step before the polar transform. The resulting codes of this concatenation are called po ...

Techniques are disclosed for adaptive coding and scheduling of packets in wireless networks. The adaptive coding and scheduling can be achieved by utilizing a discrete water filling (DWF) scheme. In an example, a computer-implemented method to adaptively c ...

This article introduces a wireline receiver (RX) data-path employing discrete multi-tone (DMT) modulation for communicating over electrical links. The DMT RX incorporates a fully digital equalization data-path, with a synthesized and automatically placed a ...

In this work, we study the coded frame error rate (FER) of LoRa under additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and under carrier frequency offset (CFO). To this end, we use existing approximations for the bit error rate (BER) of the LoRa modulation under AWGN ...

Weighted Round-Robin (WRR) is often used, due to its simplicity, for scheduling packets or tasks. With WRR, a number of packets equal to the weight allocated to a flow can be served consecutively, which leads to a bursty service. Interleaved Weighted Round ...

In this paper, for the first time, the in-to-out-body path loss between a capsule antenna placed inside the cows' rumen and a distant gateway was characterized at 868 MHz. Measurements were conducted on five different fistulated cows in a dairy barn. The i ...

We experimentally demonstrate Kramers-Kronig detection of four 20 Gbaud 16-quadrature-amplitude-modulated (QAM) channels after 50 km fiber transmission using two soliton Kerr combs as signal sources and local oscillators. The estimated carrier phase at the ...

The task of inertial sensor calibration has required the development of various techniques to take into account the sources of measurement error coming from such devices. The calibration of the stochastic errors of these sensors has been the focus of incre ...
