We report periodic oscillations in the 15-year-long optical light curve of the gravitationally lensed quasar Q J0158-4325 at z(s) = 1.29. The signal is enhanced during a high magnification microlensing event of the quasar that the fainter lensed image, B, ...

GRANDMA is a world-wide collaboration with the primary scientific goal of studying gravitational-wave sources, discovering their electromagnetic counterparts and characterizing their emission. GRANDMA involves astronomers, astrophysicists, gravitational-wa ...

We studied the magnetic excitations in the quasi-one-dimensional (q-1D) ladder subsystem of Sr14-xCaxCu24O41 (SCCO) using Cu L-3-edge resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS). By comparing momentum-resolved RIXS spectra with high (x = 12.2) and without ( ...

Iron-based spin-crossover complexes hold tremendous promise as multifunctional switches in molecular devices. However, real-world technological applications require the excited high-spin state to be kinetically stable-a feature that has been achieved only ...

Method for detecting a change in molecular tumbling of an electron-spin labelled system (1) in solution. Nuclear spins of the entire solution are measured in solution using Overhauser dynamic nuclear polarization in a first reference measurement, and then ...

Further miniaturisation of magnetic storage devices requires an advent of new types of magnets, since classical ferromagnetic materials show lack of remanence at nano- and subnanoscale. A single atom can represent the smallest possible bit of information. ...

Systems with low mechanical dissipation are extensively used in precision measurements such as gravitational wave detection, atomic force microscopy, and quantum control of mechanical oscillators via optomechanics and electromechanics. The mechanical quali ...

Solid-state NMR can provide information about the atomic-level microstructure and dynamics in materials as it directly probes the local nuclear environment. In the last decade, halide perovskites have drawn intense interest because of their intriguing opto ...

A metastable cosmic-string network is a generic consequence of many grand unified theories (GUTs) when combined with cosmic inflation. Metastable cosmic strings are not topologically stable, but decay on cosmic time scales due to pair production of GUT mon ...

In the presence of magnetic fields, gravitational waves are converted into photons and vice versa. We demonstrate that this conversion leads to a distortion of the cosmic microwave background (CMB), which can serve as a detector for MHz to GHz gravitationa ...
