In this paper, we analyze the integration of small antennas in a drone protected by a conductive structure. They must be light and resistant to provide high collision resilience, which is critical for drones flown indoors and in complex environments. To ac ...

While wired infrastructure constitutes the backbone of most wireless networks, wireless systems appeal the most to the dynamic and rapidly evolving requirements of today's communication systems because of their ease of deployment and mobility, not to menti ...

Today it is possible to achieve sub-ns level time synchronization on a wireline network while only us-level synchronization can be achieved on a wireless (microwave) link. In this paper we will, first, study the performances of different time synchronizati ...

Massive-multiple input multiple output (MIMO) was recently proposed as a key solution for improving the performance of multi-user MIMO in future cellular generations. The main paradigm in this novel MIMO technique is to use a very large number of antenna e ...

A major issue in Wireless Body Area Networks (W-BAN) is the reliability of the transmission in all conditions, thus in all locations and positions of the wearer. One way to achieve this is to design communication systems as independent as possible to the p ...

In this paper, a low complexity data demodulation algorithm is proposed that requires time of arrival information of the received signal exclusively. As an application example, the algorithm is applied to an ultra-wideband impulse radio communication syste ...

In sensor networks and communication systems, one is often confronted with sampling multiple sparse signals having a common support set. Multipath channels in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication setting is an interesting example ...

Formal research on Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology started in the U.S. in 2002; where its definition was formulated and the frequency allocation in that country established. However, the first ultra-wideband transmission was done during the confirmation of ...

Given uncertainty in environment, a conservative approach is to design for the worst case, leading to a game-theoretic situation where the environment is controlled by an adversary. However, in many cases, the uncertainty arises from randomness, not an adv ...

Due to their very nature, wireless sensor networks are probably the category of wireless networks most vulnerable to “radio channel jamming”-based Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. An adversary can easily mask the events that the sensor network should detec ...

Due to environmental concerns and strict constraints on interference imposed on other networks, the radiated power of emerging pervasive wireless networks needs to be strictly limited, yet without sacrificing acceptable data rates. Pulsed Time-Hopping Ultr ...

In this thesis we study coding strategies for single-user block-fading channels. The block-fading channel is a simplified model of slowly varying wireless communication channels with stringent delay constraints. This model is particularly important in prac ...
