Today, the fabrication of carbon monoxide (CO) in industry customarily necessitates elevated temperature and pressure. Concurrently, the harnessing of infrared (IR) light, which constitutes ≈50% of solar energy, has predominantly remained unexploited due t ...

The industrialization of perovskite solar cells requires adequate materials and processes to make them economically viable and environmentally sustainable. Despite promising results in terms of power conversion efficiency and operational stability, several ...

All-perovskite tandem solar cells recently surpassed 26% power conversion efficiency using a Sn(ii)-based halide perovskite rear subcell, which introduces several issues related to the chemical instability and the effectiveness of common, inexpensive inter ...

Human deep space exploration is presented with multiple challenges, such as the reliable, efficient and sustainable operation of life support systems. The production and recycling of oxygen, carbon dioxide (CO2) and fuels are hereby key, as a resource resu ...

Transient absorption spectra (TAS) of lead halide perovskites can provide important insights into the nature of the photoexcited state dynamics of this prototypical class of materials. Here, we perform ground and excited state molecular dynamics (MD) simul ...

Human society is craving new and renewable energy sources. Indeed, the need for novel sources is an obligation in order to cope with the exponentially increasing global energy demand. Also, environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil fuels are more cru ...

Recently, there has been increasing attention toward inhaled nanoparticles (NPs) to develop inhalation therapies for diseases associated with the pulmonary system and investigate the toxic effects of hazardous environmental particles on human lung health. ...

The effect of first-row transition metal nanoparticles as co-catalysts on the activity of mesoporous graphitic carbon nitride (m-gCN) and black phosphorous (BP) heterojunctions (m-gCN/BP) in the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is investiga ...

In light of the energy transition, it becomes a widespread solution to decentralize and to decarbonize energy systems. However, limited transformer capacities are a hurdle for large-scale integration of solar energy in the electricity grid. The aim of this ...

Phosphorene nanoribbons (PNRs) have been widely predicted to exhibit a range of superlative functional properties; however, because they have only recently been isolated, these properties are yet to be shown to translate to improved performance in any appl ...

Recently, polymeric carbon nitride (g-C3N4) as a proficient photo-catalyst has been effectively employed in photocatalysis for energy conversion, storage, and pollutants degradation due to its low cost, robustness, and environmentally friendly nature. The ...

Nowadays, molybdenum carbides (Mo2C) represent alternative electrocatalysts to noble metal for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, a fast and simple process is proposed for the fabrication of Mo2C-based electrocatalysts on a carbon cloth substrate ...

Sight restoration through retinal prostheses was still a mere dream a century ago. Current challenges are even greater: providing a quantitatively and qualitatively useful artificial vision to late blind patients. Existing approaches all face engineering a ...

The production of radioisotope beams at the ISOLDE (Isotope Separator OnLine DEvice) facility at CERN is achieved by irradiating target materials (e.g. uranium carbides and metal foils) with protons. The materials are usually operated at temperatures above ...
