In this thesis, we study gapless Quantum Field Theories using S-matrix bootstrap methods. These methods are intrinsically nonperturbative and utilize basic physical principles---such as Lorentz invariance, unitarity, and crossing symmetry---to constrain th ...

This manuscript describes the optimization of the front-end readout electronics for high granularity hybrid pixel detectors. The theoretical study aims at minimizing the noise and jitter. The model presented here is validated with both circuit post layout ...

We present a hydrodynamic theory for systems of dipolar active Brownian particles which, in the regime of weak dipolar coupling, predicts the onset of motility-induced phase separation (MIPS), consistent with Brownian dynamics (BD) simulations. The hydrody ...

We carried out a comprehensive high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) study of the pseudogap interplay with superconductivity in La-based cuprates. The three systems La2-xSrxCuO4, La1.6-xNd0.4SrxCuO4, and La1.8-xEu0.2SrxCuO4 disp ...

Local defects in the manufacturing of high temperature superconducting cable-in-conduit conductors are known to be present at different stages of the conductor production. The impact of such defects on the performance of one module of the hybrid option of ...

The NANOGrav, Parkes, European, and International Pulsar Timing Array (PTA) Collaborations have reported evidence for a common-spectrum process that can potentially correspond to a stochastic gravitational wave background (SGWB) in the 1-100 nHz frequency ...

Recently, there has been increasing attention toward inhaled nanoparticles (NPs) to develop inhalation therapies for diseases associated with the pulmonary system and investigate the toxic effects of hazardous environmental particles on human lung health. ...

A single spin in a Josephson junction can reverse the flow of the supercurrent by changing the sign of the superconducting phase difference across it. At mesoscopic length scales, these pi-junctions are employed in various applications, such as finding the ...

Quantum computing could potentially offer faster solutions for some of today's classically intractable problems using quantum processors as computational support for quantum algorithms [1]. Quantum processors, in the most frequent embodiment, comprise an a ...

Since the discovery of charge disproportionation in the FeO2 square-lattice compound Sr3Fe2O7 by Mossbauer spectroscopy more than fifty years ago, the spatial ordering pattern of the disproportionated charges has remained "hidden" to conventional diffracti ...

In this letter we present a finite temperature approach to a high-dimensional inference problem, the Wigner spiked model, with group-dependent signal-to-noise ratios. For two classes of convex and non-convex network architectures the error in the reconstru ...

Short bursts (similar to 1 ms) of gas, injecting similar to 10(17)-10(18) molecules of hydrogen and/or deuterium, lead to the observation of cold pulse propagation phenomenon in hydrogen plasmas of the ADITYA-U tokamak. After every injection, a sharp incre ...

The attosecond quantum beat of an electronic state superposition was captured in SiH4 using soft-X-Ray attosecond transient-absorption spectroscopy. Its decoher-ence and revival, induced by non-adiabatic vibrational dynamics, were reproduced using MCTDH ca ...

An integrated modelling methodology for the calculation of realistic plasma neutron sources for the JET tokamak has been developed. The computational chain comprises TRANSP plasma transport and DRESS neutron spectrum calculations, and their coupling to the ...

Electron-electron interactions play an important role in graphene and related systems and can induce exotic quantum states, especially in a stacked bilayer with a small twist angle(1-7). For bilayer graphene where the two layers are twisted by the 'magic a ...

An angular analysis of the B-0 -> K-0 (-> K+pi(-))mu(+)mu(-) decay is presented using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1) of pp collision data collected with the LHCb experiment. The full set of CP-averaged observables are det ...

A four-body amplitude analysis of the B- -> D*(+)pi(-) pi(-) decay is performed, where fractions and relative phases of the various resonances contributing to the decay are measured. Several quasi-model-independent analyses are performed aimed at searching ...

2D hybrid perovskites (2DP) are versatile materials, whose electronic and optical properties can be tuned through the nature of the organic cations (even when those are seemingly electronically inert). Here, it is demonstrated that fluorination of the orga ...

We report the possibility to simultaneously perform wide-field nitrogen-vacancy (NV) diamond magnetic microscopy and synchrotron x-ray diffraction measurements at high pressure. NV color centers are created on the culet of a diamond anvil which is integrat ...

The recent demonstration of isolated attosecond pulses from an X-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) opens the possibility for probing ultrafast electron dynamics at X-ray wavelengths. An established experimental method for probing ultrafast dynamics is X-ray t ...
