A new approach to optical diffraction tomography (ODT) based on intensity measurements is presented. By applying the Wolf transform directly to intensity measurements, we observed unexpected behavior in the 3D reconstruction of the sample. Such a reconstru ...

Nanoparticles (NPs) developments advance innovative biomedical applications. However, complex interactions and the low colloidal stability of NPs in biological media restrict their widespread utilization. The influence of NPs properties on the colloidal st ...

The branching fraction of the rare B-s(0) -> phi mu(+)mu(-) decay is measured using data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 1, 2, and 6 fb(-1), respectively. The bran ...

Immense field enhancement and nanoscale confinement of light are possible within nanoparticle-on-mirror (NPoM) plasmonic resonators, which enable novel optically activated physical and chemical phenomena and render these nanocavities greatly sensitive to m ...

Conventional therapeutics are often limited by their targeting ability, resulting in harmful and potential fatal side-effects for the patients. Recently, new strategies have been developed to improve target specificity of drugs in order to generate more ef ...

Efficient medical care fundamentally relies on the ability to provide a timely and accurate diagnosis. Thanks to advances in biomedical research, specific molecules called diagnostic molecular biomarkers have been discovered in the human body that help ind ...

A study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state is made using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. Candidate chi(c1)(3872) and ...

Characterizing and controlling the uniformity of nanoparticles is crucial for their application in science and technology because crystalline defects in the nanoparticles strongly affect their unique properties. Recently, ultra-short and ultra-bright X-ray ...

Using a data sample of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected on the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e(+)e(-) collider, we report the observation of B-0 -> p (p) over bar pi(+)pi(-) and the first observation ...

A search for CP violation in the Lambda(0)(b) -> p pi(-) pi(+) pi(-) decay is performed using LHCb data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.6 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV. The analysis uses both ...

The classical nucleation theory (CNT) is the most common theoretical framework used to explain particle formation. However, nucleation is a complex process with reaction pathways which are often not covered by the CNT. Herein, we study the formation mechan ...

This study evaluates and compares several machine learning methods on the effects of different parameters in lead adsorption capacity. pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and initial lead concentration were considered as inputs and adsorption capacity was r ...

Firstly, this thesis presents the in vivo evaluation of a previously developed model system that utilizes CD4+ TE/M cells decorated with up to 100 polystyrene based nanoparticles per cell by maleimide thiol conjugation. These nanoparticle T-cell conjugates ...
