Kinetically fast racemization of chiral substrates through an achiral intermediate and enantioselective functionalization of one of the enantiomeric substrates forms the basis of the dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of centrally chiral molecules. We report ...

Chiral carbon-carbon (C-C) and carbon-heteroatom (C-X) bonds are pervasive and very essential in natural products, bioactive molecules, and functional materials, and their catalytic construction has emerged as one of the hottest research fields in syntheti ...

Asymmetric synthesis of enantioenriched zigzag-type molecular belts featuring copper/H8-binaphthol-catalyzed kinetic resolution of a resorcinarene derivative and subsequent transformations was developed. The acquired rigid and C4-symmetric belt exhibited r ...

The first chapter of this thesis describe the development of a general synthesis of ynimines, an under-exploited motif in organic chemistry. In the presence of an inexpensive copper catalyst and 2,2'-biquinoline, reaction of easily accessible O-acyloximes ...

An asymmetric 3-component reaction between EthynylBenziodoXoles (EBXs), 2,2,2-trifluorodiazoethane and nucleophiles catalyzed by a CuI-BOX (Bisoxazoline) catalyst is described. This protocol gives access to chiral trifluoromethylated propargyl ethers and a ...

In drug discovery, the proportion of aliphatic carbons (C(sp(3))) and the presence of chiral carbons in organic molecules are positively correlated to their chance of clinical success. Although methods exist for the synthesis of chiral C(sp(3))-rich molecu ...

Chiral optical switches, which use light to control chirality in a reversible manner, offer unique properties and fascinating prospects in the areas of molecular switching and responsive systems, new photochromic materials and molecular data processing and ...

Azepanes are important seven-membered heterocycles, which are present in numerous natural and synthetic compounds. However, the development of convergent synthetic methods to access them remains challenging. Herein, we report the Lewis acid catalyzed (4+3) ...

Deracemization of racemic chiral compounds is an attractive approach in asymmetric synthesis, but its development has been hindered by energetic and kinetic challenges. Here we describe a catalytic deracemization method for secondary benzylic alcohols whic ...

1,2-Bis(2'-nitrophenoxy)-3-R-benzenes {R = H (1), CH3 (2) and OCH3 (3)} have been prepared from the S-N-Ar reaction between 1-fluoro-2-nitrobenzene and 3-R-catechol (aromatic diol), and are then reduced to the corresponding diamines 1,2-bis(2'-aminophenoxy ...

The development of a sequential copper-catalyzed oxy-alkynylation/intramolecular [4+2] cycloaddition of allenes and arenes was investigated at first. This one-pot protocol allowed the construction of complex polycylic architectures with high efficiency fro ...

The direct construction of stereogenic axes by enantioselective C-H arylation has been regarded as a very challenging transformation. Very few examples have been reported, despite the indisputable straight-forwardness of the methodology. This is due to the ...

This review presents an account of the palladium-catalyzed functionalizations of alkenes and alkynes developed at the Laboratory of Catalysis and Organic Synthesis (LCSO). Starting from the intramolecular oxy- and aminoalkynylation of alkenes, tethered met ...

Chiral auxiliaries and asymmetric catalysis are the workhorses of enantioselective transformations, but they still remain limited in terms of either efficiency or generality. Herein, we present an alternative strategy for controlling the stereoselectivity ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl (Cpx) metal complexes have empowered the developement of challenging asymmetric C(sp2)-H activation transformations. However the preparation of competent atropchiral Cpx ligands is long and tedious. Moreover the range of application ...

The chemistry of cyclopentadienyl ruthenium(II) complexes plays an important role in ruthenium catalysis because of its high potential for various transformations. However, asymmetric catalysis with chiral cyclopentadienyl ruthenium(II) complexes is still ...

Regio- and stereoselective nucleophilic attack of cyanide (from NBu4CN) to cationic diiron vinyliminium compounds [Fe2Cp2(CO)(mu-CO){mu-eta(1):eta(3)-C-(R')C(R '')-CNMe2}]CF3SO3 ([1a-f]CF3SO3) affords the nitrile-aminoallylidene derivatives 2a-f in good to ...

The development of catalytic enantioselective transformations, enabling the construction of complex molecular scaffolds from simple precursors, has been a long-standing challenge in organic synthesis. Recent achievements in transition-metal catalyzed enant ...

Enantioselectivity in heterogeneous catalysis strongly depends on the chirality transfer between catalyst surface and all reactants, intermediates, and the product along the reaction pathway. Herein we report the first enantioselective on-surface synthesis ...

Twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) is a two-dimensional chiral material whose optical activity is remarkably strong for its atomic thickness. While the chiral optical properties of TBG are currently well understood, the optical activity of quantum dots (QDs) m ...
