The world of nanoscales in fluidics is the frontier where the continuum of fluid mechanics meets the atomic, and even quantum, nature of matter. While water dynamics remains largely classical under extreme confinement, several experiments have recently rep ...

The atmospheric layer adjacent to the earth's surface is of crucial importance for weather models due to the exchange of energy between the surface and the atmosphere. This exchange is dependent on the various surface properties and influences the state of ...

The magnet feeders are part of the critical systems of a fusion reactor since they represent the interface between the in-cryostat components at 4.5 K and the room-temperature cryogenic plant and power supply. The European DEMO tokamak foresees 16 toroidal ...

In this study, data from 17 ground-based, continental Arctic observatories areused to evaluate the performance of the European Centre for Medium-RangeWeather Forecasts Reanalysis version 5 (ERA5) reanalysis model. Three aspectsare evaluated: (i) the overal ...

We study the flow stability and spatiotemporal spectral dynamics of cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) suspensions in a custom Taylor-Couette flow cell using the intrinsic shear induced birefringence and liquid crystalline properties of CNC suspensions for flow v ...

Plantar pressure plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of foot ulcers among patients with diabetes and peripheral polyneuropathy. Pressure relief is a key requirement for both the prevention and treatment of plantar ulcers. Conventional medical practice ...

Cavitation bubbles, extensively investigated in fluid mechanics, present enduring challenges in hydraulic machinery, while holding considerable potential for practical applications in biomedicine and sonochemistry. Despite more than a century of research, ...

The recently proposed recursive projection-aggregation (RPA) decoding algorithm for Reed-Muller codes has received significant attention as it provides near-ML decoding performance at reasonable complexity for short codes. However, its complicated structur ...

Cavitation is a topic that has long been of interest due to the large and growing range of applications associated with it. This is mainly because the collapse of cavitation bubbles releases a considerable amount of energy into the surrounding environment. ...

We propose and implement a multiparty homomorphic encryption (MHE) scheme with a t-out-of -N-threshold access-structure that is efficient and does not require a trusted dealer in the common random string model. We construct this scheme from the ring-learni ...

We propose a methodology to monitor the progressive saturation of a non-translucent unidirectional carbon fabric stack through its thickness by means of X-ray radiography and extract the dynamic saturation curves using image analysis. Four constant flow ra ...

Incorporating pressurized fluidic circuits into textiles can enable muscular support, thermoregulation, and haptic feedback in a convenient wearable form factor. However, conventional rigid pumps, with their associated noise and vibration, are unsuitable f ...

Resonant sloshing in circular cylinders was studied by Faltinsen et al. (J. Fluid Mech., vol. 804, 2016, pp. 608-645), whose theory was used to describe steady-state resonant waves due to a time-harmonic container's elliptic orbits. In the limit of longitu ...

The dataset supporting 'Fiber pumps for wearable fluidic systems', published in Science in March 2023. In this work, we present a fluidic pump in the form of a flexible and stretchable tube. These tubes - or 'fiber pumps' - can generate significant fluidic ...

We establish probabilistic small data global well-posedness of the energy-critical Maxwell-Klein-Gordon equation relative to the Coulomb gauge for scaling super-critical random initial data. The proof relies on an induction on frequency procedure and a mod ...

Fluidic systems enable actuation in various applications, such as automotive, medical, and industrial robotics. Miniaturized valves constitute a fundamental controlling element of modern fluidic systems, intriguing the interest of many researchers. This le ...

Lock-in is of great importance in many engineering applications due to its practical implications for structural safety. The influence of composite bend-twist coupling on the wake dynamics and vortex-induced vibration around a carbon fiber composite hydrof ...

This work is dedicated to the systematic investigation of wind turbine wakes under the effect of pressure gradients. Wind tunnel experiments are carried out with a wind turbine positioned on straight ramps of increasing angle such that it experiences an ap ...

The integration of technology in the medical field has greatly improved accuracy in diagnoses, thus leading to more effective treatments. Wearable and implantable medical devices offer great potential for remote patient monitoring, particularly for heart f ...

The design and the grazing flow aeroacoustical characterization of a 2D active liner based on an array of electroacoustic absorbers are presented in this paper. The strategy stands on a pressure-based, current-driven digital architecture for impedance cont ...
