Protein drugs have great potential as targeted therapies, yet their application suffers from several drawbacks, such as instability, short half-life, and adverse immune responses. Thus, protein delivery approaches based on stimuli-responsive nanocarriers c ...

Using organic insecticides including plant oils, it is possible to design a new perspective for the control of insect pests. In this research, nanoemulsion formulations of Mentha piperita, wild-type essential oil (EO) were prepared utilizing high-energy ul ...

N-Nitrosamines are an important class of potent human carcinogens and mutagens that can be present in water and wastewater. For instance, N-nitrosamines can be formed by reaction of nitrosating agents such as NO+ or N2O3 formed from nitrite under acidic co ...

Emulsions of two immiscible liquids can slowly coalesce over time when stabilized by surfactant molecules. Pickering emulsions stabilized by colloidal particles can be much more stable. Here, we fabricate biocompatible amphiphilic dimer particles using a h ...

Aqueous drops of a well-defined size are often used as small containers for conducting chemical and biochemical reactions, cell assays and as templates to produce microparticles. To prevent their coalescence, they must be stabilized, for example, using sur ...

Synergistic and nonsynergistic surfactant-water mixtures of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), lauryl betaine (C12B), and cocoamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) systems are studied using molecular simulation to understand the role of interactions among headgroups, tail ...

Several food surfactants were examined as possible efficient emulsifiers for liquid crystalline monolinolein-based particles and as alternative choices to the non-food-grade emulsifier conventionally used Pluronic (R) F127. We described a food emulsifiers' ...

The use of polymers has revolutionized the field of drug delivery in the past two decades. Properties such as polymer size, charge, hydrophilicity, or branching have all been shown to play an important role in the cellular internalization of polymeric syst ...

Cyanine dye molecules, used as monomers or in aggregate form, find interesting applications in optoelectronic devices. Among the various aggregate species incorporating organic dyes, centrosymmetric dimers are known as nonluminescent. They can act as excit ...

Fluorescent solvatochromic dyes and molecular rotors have attracted considerable attention as fluorogenic probes because of background-free detection of biomolecules in live cells in no-wash conditions. Herein, we introduce a push-pull boron-containing (di ...

We report here the photophysical properties of a water-soluble conjugated polythiophene with cationic side-chains. When dissolved in aqueous buffer solution (PBS, phosphate buffered saline), there is ordering of the polymer chains due to the presence of th ...

Nanoscale carrier platforms promote immune responses to vaccination by facilitating delivery of vaccine components to immunologically relevant sites. The technique is particularly valuable for subunit vaccination, in which coadministration of immunostimula ...

In this work, fluorescent-based chemosensors for the detection of important analytes in aqueous solution are described. The sensors are based on different detection concepts, including analyte-induced aggregation/de-aggregation, pattern-based sensing and m ...
