FPGAs are proving useful and attractive for many applications, thanks to their hardware reconfigurability, low power, and high-degree of parallelism. As a result, modern embedded systems are often based on systems-on-chip (SoCs), where CPUs and FPGAs share ...

The paper presents a novel DAG-aware Boolean rewriting algorithm for restructuring combinational logic before technology mapping. The algorithm, called window rewriting, repeatedly selects small parts of the logic and replaces them with more compact implem ...

We present an all-digital application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) that implements Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)-compatible backscatter communication. The ASIC was fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS process and occupies an active area of 0.12 mm(2) while consum ...

Most logic synthesis algorithms work on graph representations of logic functions with nodes associated with arbitrary logic expressions or simple logic functions and iteratively optimize such graphs. While recent multilevel logic synthesis efforts focused ...

Despite FPGAs rapidly evolving to support the requirements of the most demanding emerging applications, their high static power consumption, concentrated within the routing resources, still presents a major hurdle for low-power applications. Augmenting the ...

Gallium Nitride (GaN) is one of the most promising materials for high frequency power switching due to its exceptional properties such as large saturation velocity, high carrier mobility, and high breakdown field strength. The high switching frequency of G ...

In the last few years, the field of lightweight cryptography has seen an influx in the number of block ciphers and hash functions being proposed. In the past there have been numerous papers that have looked at circuit level implementation of block ciphers ...

III-N family of materials has offered multiple groundbreaking technologies in the field of optoelectronics and high-power radio-frequency (RF) devices. Blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have revolutionized low-energy lighting. Gallium nitride (GaN) RF mark ...

Collective spin excitations can propagate in magnetically ordered materials in the form of waves. These so-called spin waves (SWs) or magnons are promising for low-power beyond-CMOS information processing, which does not rely anymore on the lossy movement ...

Emerging reconfigurable nanotechnologies allow the implementation of self-dual functions with a fewer number of transistors as compared to traditional CMOS technologies. To achieve better area results for Reconfigurable Field-Effect Transistors (RFET)-base ...

InGaAs/GaAsSb tunnelling field-effect transistors and InGaAs metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors can be integrated on the same silicon substrate using conventional CMOS-compatible processes, creating a platform for potential use in low-power ...

At the FSE conference of ToSC 2018, Kranz et al. presented their results on shortest linear programs for the linear layers of several well known block ciphers in literature. Shortest linear programs are essentially the minimum number of 2-input xor gates r ...

In this letter, we present a new concept for normally-off AlGaN/GaN-on-Si MOS-HEMTs based on the combination of p-GaN, tri-gate and MOS structures to achieve high threshold voltage (V-TH) and low on-resistance (R-ON). The p-GaN is used to engineer the band ...

The increasing luminosity in HEP (High Energy Physics) colliders demands trigger systems to be more selective. First, more information from the detector is routed to the trigger system. Second, larger parts of this information are processed together. These ...

The exponential growth in computing power and multimedia services has caused a tremendous increase in data traffic in recent years. This increase in data traffic brings a strong demand for data bandwidth of electrical input/output (I/O) links and pushes th ...
