Kinetically fast racemization of chiral substrates through an achiral intermediate and enantioselective functionalization of one of the enantiomeric substrates forms the basis of the dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of centrally chiral molecules. We report ...

Catalysts play a major role in chemical synthesis, and catalysis is considered to be a green and economic process. Catalysis is dominated by covalent interactions between the catalyst and substrate. The design of non-covalent catalysts came into limelight ...

Chirality (C) is a fundamental property of objects, in terms of symmetry. It is extremely important to sense and distinguish chiral molecules in the fields of biochemistry, science, and medicine. Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectroscopy, obtained ...

We study the evolution of magnetic fields coupled with chiral fermion asymmetry in the framework of chiral magnetohydrodynamics with zero initial total chirality. The initial magnetic field has a turbulent spectrum peaking at a certain characteristic scale ...

Beyond the common supramolecular helical polymers in solutions, controlling single-crystal helical self-assembly with precisely defined chirality and architectures has been challenging. Here, we report that simply merging static homochiral amino acids with ...

An asymmetric 3-component reaction between EthynylBenziodoXoles (EBXs), 2,2,2-trifluorodiazoethane and nucleophiles catalyzed by a CuI-BOX (Bisoxazoline) catalyst is described. This protocol gives access to chiral trifluoromethylated propargyl ethers and a ...

Chirality is a structural property of molecules lacking mirror symmetry that has strong implications in diverse fields, ranging from life sciences to materials science. Chirality-sensitive spectroscopic methods, such as circular dichroism, exhibit weak sig ...

In drug discovery, the proportion of aliphatic carbons (C(sp(3))) and the presence of chiral carbons in organic molecules are positively correlated to their chance of clinical success. Although methods exist for the synthesis of chiral C(sp(3))-rich molecu ...

Twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) is a two-dimensional chiral material whose optical activity is remarkably strong for its atomic thickness. While the chiral optical properties of TBG are currently well understood, the optical activity of quantum dots (QDs) m ...

The chiral magnetic effect (CME) is a quantum relativistic effect that describes the appearance of an additional electric current along a magnetic field. It is caused by an asymmetry between the number densities of left- and right-handed fermions, which ca ...

Helical frontier molecular orbitals (MOs) appear in disubstituted allenes and even-n cumulenes. Chiral molecules are optically active, but while these molecules are single-handed chiral, p-orbitals of both helicities are present. Here we computationally ex ...

The absence of centrosymmetry in chiral and polar crystal structures is the reason for many technical relevant physical properties like optical birefringence or ferroelectricity. Other chirality related properties that are actually intensively investigated ...

The intermetallic compound PdGa has recently attracted considerable interest for combining high catalytic activity with high reaction selectivity in symmetric heterogeneous catalysis, in particular semi-hydrogenation of acetylene and methanol steam reformi ...

The enantiopure Schiff bases (R or S)-N-1-( phenyl)ethyl-2,4-X-1,X2(-)salicylaldimine (X-1, X-2 = Cl, Br, I) coordinate to copper(II) and provide pseudotetrahedral bis[(S or R)-N-1-(phenyl)ethyl-(2,4-X-1,X-2-salicylaldiminato.2N,O)]-./.-Cu(II) (kappa N-2,O ...

Chiral auxiliaries and asymmetric catalysis are the workhorses of enantioselective transformations, but they still remain limited in terms of either efficiency or generality. Herein, we present an alternative strategy for controlling the stereoselectivity ...

This review describes the development of enantioselective methods for the ring opening of cyclopropanes. Both approaches based on the reaction of nonchiral cyclopropanes and (dynamic) kinetic resolutions and asymmetric transformations of chiral substrates ...

Deracemization of racemic chiral compounds is an attractive approach in asymmetric synthesis, but its development has been hindered by energetic and kinetic challenges. Here we describe a catalytic deracemization method for secondary benzylic alcohols whic ...

Chirality is present as a trend of research in biological and chemical communities for it has a significant effect on physiological properties and pharmacological effects. Further, manipulating specific morphological chirality recently has emerged as a pro ...

We investigate phase separation in a chiral fluid, made of spinning ferromagnetic colloids that interact both via hydrodynamic and dipolar forces and collectively organize into separated circulating clusters. We show that, at high spinning frequency, hydro ...

Constrained by the Nielsen-Ninomiya no-go theorem, in all so-far experimentally determined Weyl semimetals (WSMs) the Weyl points (WPs) always appear in pairs in the momentum space with no exception. As a consequence, Fermi arcs occur on surfaces which con ...
