Interferometric scattering (iSCAT) microscopy enables the label-free observation of biomolecules. Consequently, single-particle imaging and tracking with the iSCAT-based method known as mass photometry (MP) is a growing area of study. However, establishing ...

The dynamics of bio-conjugated magnetic nanoparticles suspended in buffer-saline solutions containing target proteins (i.e., analytes) is investigated numerically on a mesoscopic level. To simulate the dispersion of magnetic nanoparticles the dissipative p ...

High-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and electron energy-loss spectroscopy provide information on the structural evolution, dielectric function, and bandgap values of nanocrystalline 10nm thick lanthanum doped hafnia (La: ...

The rise of digital fabrication has increased the use of wood-wood connections inspired by traditional carpentry in modern timber constructions. With recent developments on standard construction systems, the mechanical behavior of such joints for in-plane ...

We present an analysis aimed at evaluating the effect of the presence of the tower on the measurement of the grounding impedance. The Numerical Electromagnetics Code NEC-4 is used for the full-wave modeling of the structure including the tower and its foot ...

The fast and reliable determination of wave functions and electron densities of macromolecules has been one of the goals of theoretical chemistry for a long time, and in this context, several linear scaling techniques have been successfully devised over th ...

The growing research on two-dimensional materials reveals their exceptional physical properties and enormous potential for future applications and investigation of advanced physics phenomena. They represent the ultimate limit in terms of active channel thi ...

Working group 2 of the RILEM TC 238-SCM undertook a comparison of laboratories and techniques for the quantification of the degree of reaction of supplementary cementitious materials in blended cements. A common set of binary pastes of Portland cement with ...

The interaction of water with TiO2 is crucial to many of its practical applications, including photocatalytic water splitting. Following the first demonstration of this phenomenon 40 years ago there have been numerous studies of the rutile single-crystal T ...

Comprehensive scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) analysis of Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) powder modified by deposited Ag nanoparticles was performed. Nanocomposite powders with Ag content of 1 wt.%, 4 wt.%, 10 wt.% were fabricated in a chemical process f ...

A non-precious metal electrocatalyst has been developed for the oxygen reduction reaction based on nanoporous molybdenum carbide (nano-Mo2C) wires through a facile calcination of sub-nanometer periodic organic–inorganic hybrid nanowires. The highly dispers ...

Quaternary semiconductor Cu2ZnSnSe4 (CZTSe) is a very promising alternative to semiconductors based on indium (In) and gallium (Ga) as solar absorber material due to its direct band gap, inherent high absorption coefficient (> 10(4) cm(-1)) and abundance o ...

Addition of fine limestone provides an excellent means to reduce the amount of clinker in cement. It is now well accepted that limestone partially reacts in cementitious systems with C3A to produce hemi- and monocarboaluminate phases and as a consequence m ...

The growth of rubrene (C42H28, 5,6,11,12-tetraphenylnaphthacene) multilayer islands up to a thickness of six layers on a Au(111) surface has been investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy. The molecules self-organize in parallel twin rows, forming mirr ...

The common technology for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) is based on a cermet (ceramic-metal composite) anode of nickel with yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ), often used as the supporting structure. One of the main limitations of this technology is the tole ...
