Methanation of CO2 is an important reaction for reducing CO2 emissions in a power-to-gas system. Compared to cobalt supported on gamma-Al2O3, cobalt supported on graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) showed significantly better performance for CO2 methanation. Cob ...

Graphite has been intensively studied, yet its electron spins dynamics remains an unresolved problem even 70 years after the first experiments. The central quantities, the longitudinal (T-1) and transverse (T-2) relaxation times were postulated to be equal ...

Transition metal hexacyanometallates, so-called Prussian Blue Analogs (PBAs), have received massive attention as aqueous Na-ion battery electrode materials for large-scale energy storage systems not only due to their simple and low-cost synthesis procedure ...

The biogas needs to be reformed before electro-chemical conversion in the solid-oxide fuel cell, which can be promoted efficiently with wise thermal management and reforming conditions. To ensure the system safety and catalysts durability, additional miner ...

Direct borohydride fuel cells (DBFCs) operate with liquid H2O2 and a high-energy-density NaBH4 solution. A facile, direct synthesis method using a non-noble nickel catalyst for the DBFC anode is shown. The complex anode reaction with an anion-exchange iono ...

The design of novel cathode materials for Li-ion batteries would greatly benefit from accurate first-principles predictions of structural, electronic, and magnetic properties as well as intercalation voltages in compounds containing transition-metal elemen ...

Research and development of flexible lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with high energy density and long cycle life for portable and wearable electronic devices has been a cutting-edge effort in recent years. In this paper, a novel flexible self-standing anode ...

The need for efficient and selective catalysts, capable of driving important conversions to build a more sustainable society, encourages the development of synthetic approaches towards new nanomaterials. Cu-based bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) promise to f ...

Among all CO2 electroreduction products, methane (CH4) and ethylene (C2H4) are two typical and valuable hydrocarbon products which are formed in two different pathways: hydrogenation and dimerization reactions of the same CO intermediate. Theoretical studi ...

Lubricity, a phenomenon which enables the ease of motion of objects, and wear resistance, which minimizes material damage or degradation, are important fundamental characteristics for sustainable technology developments. Ultrathin coatings that promote lub ...

New ternary and higher order inorganic materials are needed for a large variety of applications, yet their synthesis still represents a chemistry challenge. Herein, we focus on the synthesis of Cu-M-S nanocrystals (where M = V, Cr, Mn) via a wet-chemistry ...

Like conventional material products, waste is the last stage of the life cycle of engineered nanomaterials, which are then incinerated or stabilized before disposal. However, because of their special physical characteristics, the fate of the thermally trea ...

The efficiency and peculiarities of processes such as surface adsorption or electron-to-photon energy conversion in organic and inorganic structures are determined by the dynamics at the scale of individual molecules, atoms and charges. The timescales of s ...

The use of formate-based ammonia precursors as alternatives to urea in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) process requires that formic acid released upon their thermolysis in the hot exhaust is rapidly decomposed to carbon dioxide. This work aims at t ...

We numerically investigate the conversion of solar energy into chemical energy by integrated photo-electrochemical (IPEC) devices and assess their response to time-dependent changes in the boundary conditions and the material properties. We focus on a devi ...
