Permalloy Ni80Fe20 is one of the key magnetic materials in the field of magnonics. Its potential would be further unveiled if it could be deposited in three dimensional (3D) architectures of sizes down to the nanometer. Atomic Layer Deposition, ALD, is the ...

We propose a novel type of photonic-crystal (PC)-based nanostructures for efficient and tunable optically-induced spin current generation via the spin Seebeck and inverse spin Hall effects. It has been experimentally demonstrated that optical surface modes ...

In this Account, we describe the challenges and promising applications of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging and spectroscopy at cryogenic temperatures. Our work focuses on two areas of application: the delay of electron-beam-induced degradatio ...

A flow directed device adapted to be guided by a fuid, such as blood, flow within a tubular structure such as a blood vessel is disclosed, said device comprising a proximal end (100), a distal end (101) and an elongated body (102) in between defining a lon ...

By combining two independent approaches, inelastic neutron-scattering measurements and density-functionaltheory calculations, we study the spin waves in the collinear antiferromagnetic phase (AFM2) of Mn5Si3. We obtain its magnetic ground-state properties ...

The creep motion of domain walls driven by external fields in magnetic thin films is described by universal features related to the underlying depinning transition. One key parameter in this description is the roughness exponent characterizing the growth o ...

Magnons (spin waves, SWs) are elementary spin excitations in magnetically ordered materials. They are the promising quanta for the transmission and processing of information. Magnons can be coupled to the electromagnetic waves utilized for the wireless com ...

The urgency of climate change demands the simultaneous removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and the transition to renewable energy sources. This aim is realizable through electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR), which is a promising ro ...

The thermoelectric and transport properties of MgO/Co2MnGa/Pd stacks with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy were measured. For a nominal 3.3 nm Co2MnGa thickness, the anomalous Nernst coefficient and the Nernst angle at room temperature were found to be 0. ...

The discovery of the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in bulk metallic antiferromagnets (AFMs) motivates the search of the same phenomenon in two-dimensional (2D) systems, where a quantized anomalous Hall conductance can, in principle, be observed. Here we pres ...

Sitting at the intersection of spintronics and thermoelectricity, research investigating the coupling of thermoelectric, magnetic, and electrical transport properties in materials has recently found that the ferromagnetic Heusler alloys are the ideal testb ...

Hybrid semiconductor-ferromagnetic insulator heterostructures are interesting due to their tunable electronic transport, self-sustained stray field, and local proximitized magnetic exchange. In this work, we present lattice-matched hybrid epitaxy of semico ...
