Résumé

An industrial 1 MW, 170 GHz continuous-wave (CW) gyrotron prototype has been manufactured in 2015 at Thales. The physical design is provided by the European GYrotron Consortium (EGYC) and is supported by the construction and the measurement of a modular short-pulse (SP) prototype. In this presentation, the latest experimental results are discussed, with respect to the previous results acquired for the modular SP prototype gyrotron.

Physical design (electronics)

In integrated circuit design, physical design is a step in the standard design cycle which follows after the circuit design. At this step, circuit representations of the components (devices and interconnects) of the design are converted into geometric representations of shapes which, when manufactured in the corresponding layers of materials, will ensure the required functioning of the components. This geometric representation is called integrated circuit layout.

Plasma stability

The stability of a plasma is an important consideration in the study of plasma physics. When a system containing a plasma is at equilibrium, it is possible for certain parts of the plasma to be disturbed by small perturbative forces acting on it. The stability of the system determines if the perturbations will grow, oscillate, or be damped out. In many cases, a plasma can be treated as a fluid and its stability analyzed with magnetohydrodynamics (MHD).
