Solid-State Transformers with Input-Series/Output-Parallel configuration offer a convenient solution for AC/DC conversion due to their scalability and modularity. In this configuration, each module experiences a second-order harmonic ripple caused by local ...

Solid-State Transformers with Input-Series/Output- Parallel configuration offer a convenient solution for AC/DC power conversion, thanks to their modularity, scalability and flexibility. However, as known, they are affected by a second-order harmonic rippl ...

The shift towards DC power distribution networks, enabled by power electronics technologies, is changing the nature of electrical power systems. Nowadays, DC power distribution networks can effectively support the high penetration of distributed energy res ...

The ITER Heating Neutral Beam (HNB) source prototype SPIDER (Source for the Production of Ions of Deuterium Extracted from a Radio frequency plasma), hosted at the Neutral Beam Test Facility (NBTF) in Padova, Italy, has recently started operating with evap ...

This paper analyzes the effectiveness of the integration of the series inductor into the medium frequency transformer used for series resonant or dual active bridge converters - galvanically isolated DC-DC converters for high-power medium-voltage (solid st ...

Novel high-power medium-voltage converter technologies offering galvanic insulation are needed to support the development of the emerging medium-voltage direct-current grids and further improve the performance of various other applications such as traction ...

This paper demonstrates and experimentally reports the highest ever performance boosting in strained silicon-nanowire homojunction TFETs with negative capacitance, provided by matched PZT capacitors. Outstanding enhancements of I on , g m , and overdrive a ...

Nowadays electrical energy generation is an important topic discussed in the society. Since technologies like wind or solar energy generation are most of the time placed far away from the city centres one point to focus on is the transmission of the energy ...

This letter reports for the first time a full experimental study of performance boosting of tunnel FETs (TFETs) and MOSFETs by negative capacitance (NC) effect. We discuss the importance of capacitance matching between a ferroelectric NC and a device capac ...

This paper presents a concept of sensorless electroacoustic absorber for damping the low-frequency modes in a cavity such as a duct or a room. Taking advantage of the reciprocity of the voice coil transducer, it is shown that a synthetic electrical admitta ...

The series production of Nb3Sn and NbTi cable-inconduit conductors (CICC) for the winding of various coils in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) magnet system is being completed in 2015. The tests of the ITER conductor samples are ...

The analysis of a radio-frequency (RF) planar antenna is presented for applications in plasma processing. The antenna is a network of elementary meshes composed of inductive and capacitive elements which exhibits a set of resonant modes. The high currents ...

This paper presents a preliminary work on the feeding of an AC dipole using a resonant circuit with a varying resonant frequency. A single phase LC oscillator containing a variable capacitor is fed by a wide band amplifier or a voltage source inverter. For ...

In most of applications, power converters are controlled to allow their output current/voltage to follow the required reference values. For DC/DC and DC/AC converters, the control must take into account their input voltage, which must be rejected. In such ...

Nowadays, the scarcity of cheap energy sources requires a particular effort in optimizing the performance of all conversions. The electric power vector is particulary expected to grow in importance, in conjunction with the development of renewable energy s ...

This work presents a current converter topology with an added free-wheeling path on the output load. This converter allows the compensation of the reactive power consumption by forcing the input current fundamental component to be in phase with the input v ...

This paper presents a preliminary work on a resonant circuit, also called AC-dipole. The resonance frequency of the circuit is changed by the mean of a variable capacitor connecting an inductor. For this purpose, a bank of switched capacitors of different ...

Developments towards an understanding of the nature of conductance at the interface between two different metallic layers – ferromagnetic and non magnetic – as well as the discovery of giant magnetoresistance have stirred attention from both the scientific ...

The aim of this paper is to present a universal power quality conditioning system (UPQS) named after unified power quality conditioner, which is extended by adding a shunt active filter at the load side. Its main purpose is to compensate for both supply vo ...
