Solid-liquid interfaces are ubiquitous. Despite the unquestioned relevance, many scientific research fields rely on simplified or macroscopic descriptions, discarding the molecular nature of the constituents. However, it is the specific molecular interacti ...

Highly photoluminescent hybrid lead halide perovskite nanoparticles have recently attracted a wide interest in the context of high-stake applications, such as light emitting diodes (LEDs), light emitting transistors and lasers. In addition, they constitute ...

The effect of poly(amido amine) (PAMAM) dendrimers of generations G2, G6, and G10 on the dispersion stability of titanate nanowires (TiONWs) as potential nanocarriers was clarified in order to develop biocompatible delivery systems. The PAMAMs adsorbed str ...

Monodispersity is a key property to control the self-assembly of colloidal particles, and is typically reached after fine-tuning of the synthesis conditions. Monodisperse particle fractions can also be separated from polydisperse suspensions via ultracentr ...

When immersed into water, most solids develop a surface charge, which is neutralized by an accumulation of dissolved counterions at the interface. Although the density distribution of counterions perpendicular to the interface obeys well-established theori ...

The interaction of the cationic dye methylene blue (MB) with titanate nanowires (TiONWs) was investigated in different pH environments using visible spectroscopy and electrophoresis on thin films as well as in aqueous suspension. The surface charge of the ...

Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) with different charge densities were utilized to examine the role of electrostatic interactions on surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) in aqueous media. To this end, growth of hydrophilic uncharged ...

We study the equilibrium liquid structure and dynamics of dilute and concentrated bovine eye lens alpha-crystallin solutions, using small-angle X-ray scattering, static and dynamic light scattering, viscometry, molecular dynamics simulations, and mode-coup ...

The shear thickening behavior of concentrated suspensions can be exploited to dissipate energy during impact or shear loading. To preserve the consistency of the thickening behavior in practical applications, particle concentration, and dispersion should b ...
