Bioaccumulation is defined as the enrichment of a compound in an organism relative to the surrounding water or its food, and is an important endpoint in chemical risk assessment. Under laboratory conditions, bioaccumulation is measured as bioconcentration ...

Tire and road wear particles (TRWP) resulting from tire abrasion while driving raise concerns due to their potential contribution to aquatic toxicity. Our study aimed to assess cryogenically milled tire tread (CMTT) particle toxicity, used as a proxy for T ...

Explainable machine learning and uncertainty quantification have emerged as promising approaches to check the suitability and understand the decision process of a data-driven model, to learn new insights from data, but also to get more information about th ...

Electrocatalysis has been proposed as a versatile technology for wastewater treatment and reuse. While enormous attention has been centered on material synthesis and design, the practicality of such catalyst materials remains clouded by a lack of both stab ...

Tissue decellularisation has gained much attention in regenerative medicine as an alternative to synthetic materials. In decellularised tissues, biological cues can be maintained and provide cellular environments still unmet by synthetic materials. Supercr ...

Tire and road wear particles (TRWP) are generated by the abrasion of tires while driving, and recent questions were raised in regards to their potential contribution to microplastics released into the aquatic environment and their potential toxicological i ...

Cells are powerful carriers that can help to improve the delivery of nanomedicines. One approach to use cells as carriers is to immobilize the nanoparticulate cargo on the cell surface. While a plethora of chemical conjugation strategies are available to b ...

Herein, we report the discovery and structure activity relationships of 5-substituted-2-[(3,5-dinitrobenzyl)-sulfanyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazoles and 1,3,4-thiadiazoles as a new class of antituberculosis agents. The majority of these compounds exhibited outstanding ...

Annonaceae family has broad uses in herbal medicine for treatment of several diseases, whether through seeds' or leaves' extracts. The present study investigates the antiproliferative and antitumor activity of Annona cherimola aqueous leaf (AAL) extract/in ...

The occurrence of neuroactive chemicals in the aquatic environment is on the rise and poses a potential threat to aquatic biota of currently unpredictable outcome. In particular, subtle changes caused by these chemicals to an organism's sensation or behavi ...

Owing to their unique antimicrobial properties, silver nanoparticles (AgNP) are among the most widely used engineered nanoparticles in a variety of consumer products and medical applications. Their resulting release into the aquatic environment raises conc ...

Project I: Chd7 Deficiency does not affect N1-driven T-ALL Induction and Maintenance nor impair Hematopoiesis Notch1 has been shown to be a key driver in pediatric T-cell acute lymphobastic leukemia (T-ALL). Previous work in the lab identified the chromati ...

Collective cell migration of epithelial tumor cells is one of the important factors for elucidating cancer metastasis and developing novel drugs for cancer treatment. Especially, new roles of E-cadherin in cancer migration and metastasis, beyond the epithe ...

Bismuth Ferrite (BFO) nanoparticles (BFO-NP) display interesting optical (nonlinear response) and magnetic properties which make them amenable for bio-oriented diagnostic applications as intra- and extra membrane contrast agents. Due to the relatively rece ...

Cell-based models are important for deriving mechanistic information about stress response pathways that have evolved to protect cells from toxic insult, such as exposure to environmental pollutants. One determinant of the stress response is the amount of ...

The pollution assessment and the evaluation of potential risks in the Atlantic Coastal Region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are still very limited. Consequently, the present study investigates for the first time the concentrations of heavy metals ...

Therapeutic engineered nanoparticles (NPs), including ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide (USPIO) NPs, may accumulate in the lower digestive tract following ingestion or injection. In order to evaluate the reaction of human colon cells to USPIO NPs, th ...

Malva pseudolavatera Webb & Berthel. is a plant from the Malvaceae family that has long been included in the human diet due to its various curative effects. Many plant leaf extracts from the various species of Malva genus have been reported to possess anti ...

Cell cultures from reef-building scleractinian corals are being developed to study the response of these ecologically important organisms to environmental stress and diseases. Despite the importance of cell division to support propagation, cell proliferati ...

Cell migration is a fundamental process in all animal cells. The ability of cell to migrate is crucial for many pathological and physiological conditions such as morphogenesis, the immune response to inflammatory or vascular diseases and cancer metastasis. ...
