Face recognition systems use the templates (extracted from users' face images) stored in the system's database for recognition. In a template inversion attack, the adversary gains access to the stored templates and tries to enter the system using images re ...

The advancement of face recognition technology has delivered substantial societal advantages. However, it has also raised global privacy concerns due to the ubiquitous collection and potential misuse of individuals' facial data. This presents a notable par ...

This article reports on the current state of the OBI DICT project, a bilingual e-dictionary of oracle-bone inscriptions (OBI), incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) image recognition technology. It first provides a brief overview of the development of ...

Motivation is a multifaceted phenomenon that we explore within the framework of decision-making. Through this cognitive process, actions are directed towards specific goals by performing a trade-off between the cost and benefit of an action. The dorsomedia ...

The field of biometrics, and especially face recognition, has seen a wide-spread adoption the last few years, from access control on personal devices such as phones and laptops, to automated border controls such as in airports. The stakes are increasingly ...

Deep learning has emerged as a promising avenue for automatic mapping, demonstrating high efficacy in land cover categorization through various semantic segmentation models. Nonetheless, the practical deployment of these models encounters important challen ...

Deep learning has revolutionized the field of computer vision, a success largely attributable to the growing size of models, datasets, and computational power. Simultaneously, a critical pain point arises as several computer vision applications are deploye ...

Modern automobiles are equipped with advanced computing capabilities, allowing them to become powerful computing units capable of processing a large amount of data and training machine learning models. However, machine learning algorithms typically require ...

We propose a test -time adaptation for 6D object pose tracking that learns to adapt a pre -trained model to track the 6D pose of novel objects. We consider the problem of 6D object pose tracking as a 3D keypoint detection and matching task and present a mo ...

Deepfakes - synthetic videos generated by machine learning models - are becoming increasingly sophisticated. While they have several positive use cases, their potential for harm is also high. Deepfake production involves input from multiple engineers, maki ...

Despite the significant progress in recent years, deep face recognition is often treated as a "black box" and has been criticized for lacking explainability. It becomes increasingly important to understand the characteristics and decisions of deep face rec ...

The knowledge that brain functional connectomes are unique and reliable has enabled behaviourally relevant inferences at a subject level. However, whether such "fingerprints" persist under altered states of consciousness is unknown. Ayahuasca is a potent s ...

Cross-resolution face recognition has become a challenging problem for modern deep face recognition systems. It aims at matching a low-resolution probe image with high-resolution gallery images registered in a database. Existing methods mainly leverage pri ...

State-of-the-art face recognition systems require vast amounts of labeled training data. Given the priority of privacy in face recognition applications, the data is limited to celebrity web crawls, which have issues such as limited numbers of identities. O ...

State-of-the-art object detection and segmentation methods for microscopy images rely on supervised machine learning, which requires laborious manual annotation of training data. Here we present a self-supervised method based on time arrow prediction pre-t ...

The performance of modern object detectors drops when the test distribution differs from the training one. Most of the methods that address this focus on object appearance changes caused by, e.g., different illumination conditions, or gaps between syntheti ...

Facial paralysis is a highly burdening condition, resulting in a patient's inability to move his mimic musculature on one or both sides of his face. This condition compromises the patient's communication and facial expressions, and thus dramatically reduce ...

We address the problem of segmenting anomalies and unusual obstacles in road scenes for the purpose of self-driving safety. The objects in question are not present in the common training sets as it is not feasible to collect and annotate examples for every ...

A vehicle's steering is a particular system in that it is exposed to individual subjective reviews based on criteria that are hard to assess quantitatively. Haptic design of such systems is a prime concern that has been at the center of industrial developm ...

Due to the increasing demands of today's fast-paced world, mental health concerns are on the rise, which necessitates innovative approaches to provide support to those in need. Open-domain conversational agents known as chatbots, offer a unique opportunit ...
