We propose an incentive mechanism for the sponsored content provider (CP) market in which the communication of users can be represented by a graph, and the private information of the users is assumed to have a continuous distribution function. The CP stipu ...

We study the homogenization of the Poisson equation with a reaction term and of the eigenvalue problem associated to the generator of multiscale Langevin dynamics. Our analysis extends the theory of two-scale convergence to the case of weighted Sobolev spa ...

Time-sensitive networks, as in the context of IEEE Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and IETF Deterministic Networking (DetNet), offer deterministic services with guaranteed bounded latency in order to support safety-critical applications. In this thesis, we ...

Goods can exhibit positive externalities impacting decisions of customers in social networks. Suppliers can integrate these externalities in their pricing strategies to increase their revenue. Besides optimizing the prize, suppliers also have to consider t ...

Personalized ranking methods are at the core of many systems that learn to produce recommendations from user feedbacks. Their primary objective is to identify relevant items from very large vocabularies and to assist users in discovering new content. These ...

The concept of novelty is central to questions of creativity, innovation, and discovery. Despite the prominence in scientific inquiry and everyday discourse, there is a chronic ambiguity over its meaning and a surprising variety of empirical measures, whic ...

We show that the finite time type II blow up solutions for the energy critical nonlinear wave equation

\Box u = -u^5

\R^{3+1}

constructed in \cite{KST}, \cite{KS1} are stable along a co-dimension one Lipschitz manifold of data perturbations in a ...

Understanding epidemic propagation in large networks is an important but challenging task, especially since we usually lack information, and the information that we have is often counter-intuitive. An illustrative example is the dependence of the final siz ...

Causal interactions between specific psychiatric symptoms could contribute to the heterogenous clinical trajectories observed in early psychopathology. Current diagnostic approaches merge clinical manifestations that co-occur across subjects and could sign ...

Network representations of complex systems are limited to pairwise interactions, but real-world systems often involve higher-order interactions. This Perspective looks at the new physics emerging from attempts to characterize these interactions. ...

Isogeometric shape optimization has been now studied for over a decade. This contribution aims at compiling the key ingredients within this promising framework, with a particular attention to sensitivity analysis. Based on all the researches related to iso ...

Decentralized training of deep learning models is a key element for enabling data privacy and on-device learning over networks. In realistic learning scenarios, the presence of heterogeneity across different clients' local datasets poses an optimization ch ...

Understanding the diffusion patterns of sequences of interdependent events is a central question for a variety of disciplines. Temporal point processes are a class of elegant and powerful models of such sequences; these processes have become popular across ...

Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network alignment is a canonical operation to transfer biological knowledge among species. The alignment of PPI-networks has many applications, such as the prediction of protein function, detection of conserved network mot ...

This research focuses on emerging technologies in the European air traffic management (ATM), specifically investigating technology adoption by the main stakeholders. The European ATM consists of a highly fragmented aviation infrastructure, built and manage ...

The effective representation, processing, analysis, and visualization of large-scale structured data, especially those related to complex domains, such as networks and graphs, are one of the key questions in modern machine learning. Graph signal processing ...

Problem. In the field of sustainability, scholars and policy-makers herald the transformative power of participation in transdisciplinary (TD) research. The increasing use of TD in science policy is rooted in the expectation that involving practitioners in ...

Classic measures of graph centrality capture distinct aspects of node importance, from the local (e.g., degree) to the global (e.g., closeness). Here we exploit the connection between diffusion and geometry to introduce a multiscale centrality measure. A n ...

As suggested by the conservation of resources theory, in contemporary societies time is considered as a limited resource in the same way as money and energy. In the current paper, a novel daily rhythm approach related to motility is presented, in order to ...

The articles in this special section focus on graph signal processing. Generically, the networks that sustain our societies can be understood as complex systems formed by multiple nodes, where global network behavior arises from local interactions between ...
