In recent years a strong effort has been made to investigate disruption avoidance schemes in order to aid the development of integrated operational scenarios for ITER. Within the EUROfusion programme the disruptive H-Mode density limit (HDL) has been studi ...

This work presents a quantitative test of SOLPS-ITER simulations against tokamak a configuration variable (TCV) L-mode experiments. These simulations account for drifts, currents, kinetic neutrals, and carbon impurities providing the most complete edge tra ...

Thermonuclear fusion of light atoms is the primary energy source of stars, such as our Sun, that led to the emergence of life on Earth. However, its economic exploitation as a virtually unlimited and clean energy source is yet to be developed. One of the m ...

A Nb3Sn based, React&Wind flat cable, named RW2, was developed in the past three years at the Swiss Plasma Center in the scope of the EUROfusion conceptual studies for DEMO. The test results presented earlier proved an excellent DC performance, but large e ...

An 1 MW long-pulse (2s), 84/126 GHz dual frequency gyrotron has been produced by THALES MSI, France responding to the needs for upgrading the ECH system of the TCV tokamak The initial tests of the prototype carried out at EPFL, Switzerland, have verified a ...

Fast particles in fusion plasmas may drive Alfven modes unstable leading to fluctuations of the internal electromagnetic fields and potential loss of particles. Such instabilities can have an impact on the performance and the wall-load of machines with bur ...

Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) instabilities and plasma rotation have various impacts on particle and thermal transport in toroidal plasmas. MHD instabilities degrade the confinement, limit the maximum achievable plasma pressure, and can lead to plasma disrupti ...

Electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) has proven to be one of the most attractive heating schemes for stellarators. Therefore, ECRH was chosen to be the main heating method for the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator (W7-X) now under construction at IPP Grei ...
