Metal emissions are of major environmental and practical concern because of their highly toxic effects on human health and ecosystems. Current technologies available in the market for their detection are typically limited by a time resolution of 1 h or lon ...

Breast cancer metastasis is a complex process that depends not only on intrinsic characteristics of metastatic stem cells, but also on the particular microenvironment that supports their growth and modulates the plasticity of the system. In search for micr ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl (Cp-x) group 9 metal complexes have become versatile catalysts for a variety of efficient enantioselective C-H functionalizations. Atropchiral binaphthyl-derived Cp-x ligands having tuning options at the 3,3'-positions present a rob ...

This thesis describes the design and synthesis of clathrochelate metalloligands for the construction of molecular nanostructures. The low synthetic effort, versatility and stability of the clathrochelate metalloligands makes them particularly suited to the ...

A series of organometallic Ru(II) complexes containing functionalized η6‐arene ligands, together with curcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin as O,O’‐chelating ligands and their RAPTA (ruthenium arene complexes bearing the 1,3,5‐triaza‐7‐phosphaadamantane ligand ...

Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has become a valuable tool in biophysical and bioanalytical chemistry because of its ability to separate and characterize the structure of gas-phase biomolecular ions on the basis of their collisional cross section (CCS). It ...

Double-resonance spectroscopic schemes in combination with cryogenic ion traps are the go-to techniques when isomer-specific high-resolution spectra are required for analysis of molecular ions. Their limitation lies in the requirement for well-resolved, is ...

The work presented in this thesis focused on the synthesis and characterization of new metalloligands based on iron(II) clathrochelate complexes. Clathrochelates can be functionalized peripherally with donor groups capable of coordinating metal ions. The s ...

The analysis of carbohydrates, or glycans, is challenging for established structure-sensitive gas-phase methods. The multitude of possible stereo-, regio- and structural isomers make them substantially more complex to ana-lyze than DNA or proteins, and no ...

Our current energy production is convenient and simple, but it is not sustainable. The negative impacts on our environment are omnipresent in the form of smog, extinction of species, and global warming. A major challenge of our generation is the transition ...

Uranium nitride complexes are of high interest because of their ability to effect dinitrogen reduction and functionalization and to promote magnetic communication, but studies of their properties and reactivity remain rare. Here we have prepared in 73% yie ...

The homogeneous catalytic dehydrogenation of formic acid in aqueous solution provides an efficient in situ method for hydrogen production, under mild conditions, and at an adjustable rate. We synthesized a series of catalysts with the chemical formula [Cp* ...

Metal based anti-cancer drugs (metallodrugs) such as cisplatin are a cornerstone of cancer chemotherapy. However, development of this class of compound has been hindered by our lack of understanding of how they function. This is mainly because existing met ...

Herein, we report a cysteine bioconjugation methodology for the introduction of hypervalent iodine compounds onto biomolecules. Ethynylbenziodoxolones (EBXs) engage thiols in small organic molecules and cysteine-containing peptides and proteins in a fast a ...
