This paper investigates and models Gate Induced Drain Leakage (GIDL) for a wide variety of high voltage devices with different low doped drain (LDD) structures. Based on TCAD simulations, we propose semi-analytical a pseudo-2D model for Gate induced Drain leakage. This model includes a complete modeling of the overlap region accounting for technological process and bulk bias dependency through detailed electric field description.

We report on the temperature dependence of ferroelectric metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) transistors and explain the observed improved characteristics based on the dielectric response of ferroelectric materials close to the Curie temperature. The hysteretic current-voltage static characteristics of a fully depleted silicon-on-insulator transistor, with 40 nm vinylidene fluoride trifluorethylene, and 10 nm SiO2 gate stack, are measured from 300 to 400 K. In contrast with conventional MOS field effect transis

In this paper, we consider the problem of speaker verification as a two-class object detection problem in computer vision, where the object instances are 1-D short-time spectral vectors obtained from the speech signal. More precisely, we investigate the general problem of speaker verification in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise, which we consider as analogous to visual object detection under varying illumination conditions. Inspired by their recent success in illumination-robust object detectio

The paper presents an influence of leakage effect observed in capacitive analog memories on learning process in hardware implemented Kohonen neural networks with MOS transistors used as switches connected with information holding capacitors. The learning results, i.e. variations (adaptations) of weight values, strongly depend on the transistor leakage currents. This is a cause for some quantization error associated with the weight adaptations during the network training. The unwanted leakage influence can b

When combined with cepstral normalisation techniques, the features normally used in Automatic Speech Recognition are based on Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). We show that calculating SNR from the outset, rather than relying on cepstral normalisation to produce it, gives features with a number of practical and mathematical advantages over power-spectral based ones. In a detailed analysis, we derive Maximum Likelihood and Maximum a-Posteriori estimates for SNR based features, and show that they can outperform mo

Audio coding based on Frequency Domain Linear Prediction (FDLP) uses auto-regressive models to approximate Hilbert envelopes in frequency sub-bands. Although the basic technique achieves good coding efficiency, there is a need to improve the reconstructed signal quality for tonal signals with impulsive spectral content. For such signals, the quantization noise in the FDLP codec appears as frequency components not present in the input signal. In this paper, we propose a technique of Spectral Noise Shaping (S

A software tool (DRONE) has been developed to evaluate road traffic noise in a large area with the consideration of network dynamic traffic flow and the buildings. For more precise estimation of noise in urban network where vehicles are mainly in stop and go running conditions, vehicle sound power level (for acceleration/deceleration cruising and ideal vehicle) is incorporated in DRONE. The calculation performance of DRONE is increased by evaluating the noise in two steps of first estimating the unit noise

This work reports on the fabrication and characterization of the organic thin film transistors OTFTs. Pentacene transistors are fabricated in top and bottom S/D contact configurations on preoxidized Si wavers. Three different metals – Pt, Au and Al – are used for the contacts. Similar performances are reported for Au and Pt bottom contact devices. Dielectric surface engineering leads to a subthreshold swing of 600mV/dec and a 0.9V threshold voltage. Top contact devices show an improvement in the mobility of

This paper presents a novel local motion estimation algorithm for omnidirectional images. The algorithm captures correlation between two spherical images of a scene, taken from arbitrary viewpoints, with the objective to reduce the encoding rate of these images. It first performs a multiresolution decomposition of the spherical images, in order to improve the consistency of the motion estimation, with a limited computational complexity. Then, it determines pairs of similar solid angles and matches blocks of

The spectral properties of chromatic detection mechanisms were investigated using a noise-masking paradigm. Contrast detection thresholds were measured for a signal with a Gaussian spatial profile, modulated in the equiluminant plane in the presence of spatial, chromatic noise. The noise was distributed within a sector in the equiluminant plane, centered on the signal direction. Each stimulus consisted of two adjacent fields, one of which contained the signal, separated horizontally by a gap with the same a

In this paper, an approach based on ergodic properties for classifying sequences is given. It is particularly robust due to the open loop structure of the detector. Unlike previous works in this direction, such as those concerning the inverse system approach, the detector is not uniquely determined by the transmitter (identical or subsystem thereof), but instead depends on the measurement noise model. The classification is optimized under such imperfect observation conditions. The method is introduced in ge

We study the interfacial electronic properties of a model Si-SiO2-Si structure which is intended to simulate the substrate-oxide-polysilicon stack in metal-oxide-semiconductor devices. The structural properties of this model are shown to match closely those of the real system, as determined by a number of atomic-scale experimental probes. In particular, the model introduced here takes into account the disordered reconstruction at the Si-SiO2 interface, and the amorphous nature of the 2 nm thick oxide. For t
