Far field superlensing of light has generated great attention in optical focusing and imaging applications. The capability of metamaterials to convert evanescent waves to propagative waves has led to numerous proposals in this regard. The common drawback o ...

This paper proposes an alternative technique for the design of miniaturized waveguide filters based on locally resonant metamaterials (LRMs). We implement ultrasmall metamaterial filters (metafilters) by exploiting a subwavelength (sub-λ) guiding mechanism ...

In this thesis, the electromagnetic wave propagation is studied in nonstationary-medium scenarios. The electromagnetic fields under material time-modulation are shown to conserve their momentum but not their energy. The mathematical foundations and analysi ...

Chirality is present as a trend of research in biological and chemical communities for it has a significant effect on physiological properties and pharmacological effects. Further, manipulating specific morphological chirality recently has emerged as a pro ...

Dielectric nanoresona tors uniquely support both magnetic and electric resonances across a wide wavelength range. They are thus being exploited in a growing number of groundbreaking applications. In particular, they have been recently suggested as promisin ...

Squaraines are organic dyes showing the advantages of a simple synthesis, high absorption coefficients and tunable bandgaps from the visible to the near-infrared (NIR) region. Their molecular structure is based on a polymethine chain and a donor-acceptor-d ...

Radiation from magnetic and electric dipole moments is a key subject in the theory of electrodynamics. Although people treat the problem thoroughly in the context of the frequency domain, the problem is still not well understood in the context of the time ...

Seeing and recognizing an object whose size is much smaller than the illumination wavelength is a challenging task for an observer placed in the far field, due to the diffraction limit. Recent advances in near- and far-field microscopy have offered several ...

Polariton lasers are mostly based on planar cavities. Here we focus on an alternative configuration with slab waveguide modes strongly coupled to excitons confined in GaN/AlGaN quantum wells. We study experimentally and theoretically polariton relaxation a ...

Guiding electromagnetic energy at a subwavelength scale is one of the most highly demanded functionalities in a variety of applications, including compact, lightweight satellite communications, signal and data processing, and power systems. The existing sc ...

In this article we develop an analog to the SSH model in tight-binding chains of resonators and an innovative Hermitian matrix formulation to describe the topological phases induced by multiple scattering at subwavelength scales in one-dimensional structur ...

The growing need for connected, smart and energy efficient devices requires them to provide both ultra-low standby power and relatively high computing capabilities when awoken. In this context, emerging resistive memory technologies (RRAM) appear as a prom ...

High-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and electron energy-loss spectroscopy provide information on the structural evolution, dielectric function, and bandgap values of nanocrystalline 10nm thick lanthanum doped hafnia (La: ...

Wave manipulation at a subwavelength scale has recently attracted significant interest, especially for low-frequency wave propagation, from acoustic to microwave devices. Recently, a few methods achieving subwavelength routing using locally resonant metama ...

We investigate cloaking property of negative-index metamaterials in the time-harmonic electromagnetic setting for the so-called doubly complementary media. These are media consisting of negative-index metamaterials in a shell (plasmonic structure) and posi ...
