This study analyses 30+ years of PV performance in Switzerland, highlighting the reliability of early 90s modules. It examines outdoor system- and indoor module-level data, emphasising the importance of BOM and the benefits of lower temperatures. ...

The increasing power density of SiC power modules presents significant challenges in achieving uniform high-heat-flux thermal management, which is often limited by conventional packages. To address this, an embedded microfluidic-cooled SiC power module is ...

Aluminium sector relies on natural gas for recycling scrap into feedstock, contributing ~2% to the global industrial CO2 emissions. Hydric resources are used as cooling media for aluminium direct chill casting, and waste heat is typically rejected to near ...

To flexibly consume variable renewable energy (VRE), the pumped storage units are facing severe issues induced by regulation duties (e.g., tear, fatigue, vibrations, etc.). This work aims to assess the regulation intensity of the pumped storage unit (RIPSU ...

Two novel dyes that are similar in chemical structure, except for different donor units, AJ301and AJ303 were synthesized, characterized and applied as sensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Both dyes exhibited a wide absorption of visible sunli ...

As the efficiency of commercial crystalline silicon solar cells approaches its maximum theoretical value, tandem architectures are becoming increasingly popular to continue the push to higher photovoltaic performances. Thin-film materials are particularly ...

The use of molecular modulators to reduce the defect density at the surface and grain boundaries of perovskite materials has been demonstrated to be an effective approach to enhance the photovoltaic performance and device stability of perovskite solar cell ...

The incremental deployment of decentralized renewable energy sources in the distribution grid is triggering a paradigm change for the power sector. This shift from a centralized structure with big power plants to a decentralized scenario of distributed ene ...

The vehicle sharing systems (VSSs) are becoming more and more popular due to both financial and environmental effects. On the other hand, they face many challenges, such as inventory management of the vehicles and parking spots, imbalance of the vehicles, ...

In this work, we investigate the relationship between potential-induced degradation (PID) and the bill of material used in module manufacturing. We manufacture samples with different combination of materials, using two types of solar cells (conventional vs ...

The stability of perovskite solar cells is a key issue for industrial development. One reason for this is the volatile organic methylammonium (MA) cation, which is prone to degas under elevated temperatures from the perovskite. At the same time, small amou ...

A series of novel polymers (P1P6) derived from the combination of different units (including thiophene, triarylamine, and spirobifluorene) were successfully synthesized, completely characterized, and used as hole-transporting materials (HTMs) for perovskit ...

The optimisation of distributed and renewable energy systems in buildings has shown that zero energy systems, using existing technologies, is within reach in the household sector where the thermal and the systems can support each other to increase renewabl ...

Industrial sites and their associated energy systems are estimated to be responsible for 31% of worldwide energy consumption. Improving their energy efficiencies has the potential to reduce production costs of industrial sites and contribute towards the 20 ...

Energy geostructures are rapidly gaining acceptance around the world; they represent a renewable and clean source of energy that can be used for the heating and cooling of buildings and for de-icing of infrastructures. This technology couples the structura ...

Demand Response (DR) is a mechanism in which electricity consumers alter their demand in response to power grid’s supply and economic conditions. DR programs have the potential to improve resource efficiency, sustainability, grid reliability and economic v ...

A series of squaraine-based sensitizers with various p bridges and anchors were prepared and examined in dye-sensitized solar cells. The carboxylic anchor group was attached onto a squaraine dye through p bridges with and without an ethynyl spacer. DFT stu ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) constitute a novel class of hybrid organic-inorganic solar cells. At the heart of the device is a mesoporous film of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles, which are coated with a monolayer of dye sensitive to the visible ...

Aim of the work is to assess the environmental quality and the potential implementation of renewable energies at the scale of the city referring to Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) data. This source of data allows to predict environmental indicators in ...
