Modern power distribution systems are experiencing a large-scale integration of Converter-Interfaced Distributed Energy Resources (CIDERs). Their presence complicates the analysis and mitigation of harmonics, whose creation and propagation may be amplified ...

This paper focuses on the operational characteristics of a medium voltage resonant DC transformer based on a split capacitor IGCT 3L-NPC leg. The study delves into both the dynamic and static balancing aspects of the 3L-NPC when operating in a two-level, 5 ...

Frequency response and voltage support are vital ancillary services for power grids. In this paper, we design and experimentally validate a real-time control framework for battery energy storage systems (BESSs) to provide ancillary services to power grids. ...

Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) have extremely advantageous characteristics such as lightness, compactness, flexibility, and large displacements. However, in order to operate, they can require voltages in the order of several thousands of volts. Thus ...

In this paper, some practical issues related to the manufacturing, and design criteria related to the application in devices of a hybrid silver grid/poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) semi-transparent electrode are discussed. The electrodes are fabricated b ...

Flow velocities, residence times, and tracer breakthroughs at the lysimeter scale are affected by matrix properties and preferential flow. Despite their relevance to transport processes, however, the relative timing of preferential flow, and its link to tr ...

The behaviour of the pile-soil interface is important for the response of floating piles in terms of displacement and lateral friction. Regarding energy piles, which couple the structural roles of deep foundations with the principle of shallow geothermal e ...

This paper presents wideband tunable band-stop filters working in the Ku to Ka-band frequencies based on a miniature single-MEM device combining a central capacitive MEM switch with AlN dielectric and inductive suspension arms. An outstanding 55% tuning ra ...
