By analyzing 4.5 fb −1 of e + e − collision data accumulated with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4599.53 MeV to 4698.82 MeV, we report the measurement of the absolute branching fraction (BF) of the inclusive decay $ {\Lambda}_c ...

Measurements of fiducial and total inclusive cross sections for W and Z boson production are presented in proton-proton collisions at s = 5.02 and 13 TeV. Electron and muon decay modes (ℓ = e or μ) are studied in the data collected with the CMS detector in ...

A search for D 0 meson decays to the π + π − e + e − and K + K − e + e − final states is reported using a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ...

We consider correlators for the flux of energy and charge in the background of operators with large global U(1) charge in conformal field theory (CFT). It has recently been shown that the corresponding Euclidean correlators generically admit a semiclassica ...

Quantum Field Theories are a central object of interest of modern physics, describing fundamental interactions of matter. However, current methods give limited insight into strongly coupling theories. S-matrix bootstrap program, described in this thesis, a ...

We study applications of spectral positivity and the averaged null energy condition (ANEC) to renormalization group (RG) flows in two-dimensional quantum field theory. We find a succinct new proof of the Zamolodchikov c-theorem, and derive further independ ...

By juxtaposing ideas from fractal geometry and dynamical systems, Furstenberg proposed a series of conjectures in the late 1960's that explore the relationship between digit expansions with respect to multiplicatively independent bases. In this work, we in ...

for the LHCb Collaboration.Flow harmonic coefficients, vn, which are the key to studying the hydrodynamics of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) created in heavy-ion collisions, have been measured in various collision systems and kinematic regions and using vari ...

The results of a model-independent search for the pair production of new bosons within a mass range of 0.21 < m < 60 GeV, are presented. This study utilizes events with a four-muon final state. We use two data sets, comprising 41.5 fb(-1) and 59.7 fb(-1) o ...

A sample of 1.3 x 10^(5) K^(+) → π^(0)e^(+)νγ candidates with less than 1% background was collected by the NA62 experiment at the CERN SPS in 2017-2018. Branching fraction measurements are obtained at percent relative precision in three restricted kinemati ...

This paper describes CosmoGattice, a modern package for lattice simulations of the dynamics of interacting scalar and gauge fields in an expanding universe. CosmoGattice incorporates a series of features that makes it very versatile and powerful: i) it is ...

Recently, integrated photonic circuits have brought new capabilities to electron microscopy and been used to demonstrate efficient electron phase modulation and electron-photon correlations. Here, we quanti-tatively analyze the feasibility of high-fidelity ...

We use numerical bootstrap techniques to study correlation functions of traceless sym-metric tensors of O(N) with two indices ti j. We obtain upper bounds on operator dimen-sions for all the relevant representations and several values of N. We discover sev ...

The electrodynamicsof nanoconfined water have been shownto changedramatically compared to bulk water, opening room for safe electrochemicalsystems. We demonstrate a nanofluidic "water-only" batterythat exploits anomalously high electrolytic properties of p ...

Entanglement and correlation are at the basis of quantummechanicsand have been used in optics to create a framework for "ghostimaging". We propose that a similar scheme can be used in anelectron microscope to exploit the correlation of electrons with theco ...

In this thesis we study how physical principles imposed on the S-matrix, such as Lorentz invariance, unitarity, crossing symmetry and analyticity constrain quantum field theories at the nonperturbative level. We start with a pedagogical introduction to the ...

Conformal Field Theories (CFTs) are crucial for our understanding of Quantum Field Theory (QFT). Because of their powerful symmetry properties, they play the role of signposts in the space of QFTs. Any method that gives us information about their structure ...

We study the dynamics of clusters of active Brownian disks generated by motility-induced phase separation, by applying an algorithm that we devised to track cluster trajectories. We identify an aggregation mechanism that goes beyond Ostwald ripening but al ...

Slip at a frictional interface occurs via intermittent events. Understanding how these events are nucleated, can propagate, or stop spontaneously remains a challenge, central to earthquake science and tribology. In the absence of disorder, rate-and-state a ...

E. E. Floyd showed in 1973 that there exist only two nontrivial cobor-dism classes that contain manifolds with three cells, and that they lie in dimen-sions 10 and 5. We prove that there is an action of the cyclic group C2 on the 10-dimensional Floyd manif ...
