Image registration is the concept of mapping homologous points in a pair of images. In other words, one is looking for an underlying deformation field that matches one image to a target image. The spectrum of applications of image registration is extremely ...

In this paper, we propose a novel method to register images defined on spherical meshes. Instances of such spherical images include inflated cortical feature maps in brain medical imaging or images from omnidirectional cameras. We apply the Geodesic Active ...

We present a coupling of the reduced basis methods and free-form deformations for shape optimization and design of systems modelled by elliptic PDEs. The free-form deformations give a parameterization of the shape that is independent of the mesh, the initi ...

This tutorial overviews recent exciting and rapidly evolving research on registration and correspondence finding across multiple deforming shapes. We address the basic techniques of three main topic areas: <br>Pair-wise local optimization methods &lt ...

For radiotherapy treatment planning of retinoblastoma in childhood, Computed Tomography (CT) represents the standard method for tumor volume delineation, despite some inherent limitations. CT scan is very useful in providing information on physical density ...

A key research area in computer vision is image segmentation. Image segmentation aims at extracting objects of interest in images or video sequences. These objects contain relevant information for a given application. For example, a video surveillance appl ...

Over the last two decades medical image processing has become a fundamental tool in medicine, and brain imaging is a paradigm thereof. The fast development of the imaging acquisition techniques allows medical staff to dispose of a variety of data coming fr ...

This paper proposes to apply the non parametric atlas registration framework we have recently developed in [6]. This technique derived from the optical flow model and the active contour framework allows to base the registration of an anatomical atlas on se ...

Detection of salient image regions is useful for applications like image segmentation, adaptive compression, and region-based image retrieval. In this paper we present a novel method to determine salient regions in images using low-level features of lumina ...

Atlas registration is a recognized paradigm for the automatic segmentation of normal MR brain images. Unfortunately, atlas-based segmentation has been of limited use in presence of large space-occupying lesions. In fact, brain deformations induced by such ...
