In this paper, we present a study of the structural and optical properties of organic-inorganic halide-based perovskite semiconductors with band gaps varying from NIR to visible at room temperature. Thin films of nanocrystalline CH3NH3PbI3 with different c ...

The aim of this thesis is to optimise and gain fundamental information on two applications of photomedicine using fluorescence imaging and spectrofluorometry: (1) the detection of early bronchial cancer by autofluorescence imaging and (2) the endometrial a ...

The color of materials such as paints, prints and glass may be characterized by a reflectance or a transmittance spectrum. Modeling their reflectance and their transmittance requires describing the interaction of light, from the light source to the observe ...

Photonic crystals are periodic dielectric structures, where the periodicity varies in one, two or three dimensions. Analogous to the periodic potential of electrons in semiconductors, the periodic variation of the dielectric constant influences the electro ...

The antitumor activity of the organometallic ruthenium(II)-arene complexes, RuCl2(eta(6)-arene)(PTA), (arene = p-cymene, toluene, benzene, benzo-15-crown-5, 1-ethylbenzene-2,3-dimethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, ethyl benzoate, hexamethylbenzene; PTA = ...

Brain deformations induced by space-occupying lesions may result in unpredictable position and shape of functionally important brain structures. The aim of this study is to propose a method for segmentation of brain structures by deformation of a segmented ...

We present a comprehensive study of multiple-scattering effects in wide-field optical coherence tomography (OCT) realized with spatially coherent illumination. Imaging a sample made of a cleaved mirror embedded in an aqueous suspension of microspheres reve ...

When exposed to ionising radiation, living tissue can potentially suffer somatic and genetic damage - effects depending mainly on the radiation dose or energy absorbed, the type of radiation, and the type and mass of cells affected. It is well known that l ...

The environment is important for the exact course of a chemical reaction. As an example of the strong influence of the environment on the reaction, this work studies the isomerization reaction of the chromophore retinal in the binding pocket of the protein ...

The aim of this thesis is to optimize and obtain fundamental information on i) the photodetection (PD) of early stage cancers in the tracheo-bronchial tree by spectroscopic imaging of the tissue autofluorescence, ii) photodynamic therapy (PDT) applied in d ...

We have developed an active microphotodiode array (MPDA) for retinal stimulation. The unique feature of the device is that each pixel acts as an independent oscillator, whose frequency is controlled by the incident light intensity. The design is based on a ...

In recent years, optical gas detectors based on a tunable diode laser absorption spectrometer has become more and more important for monitoring trace gases in atmospheric, medical, and industrial processes. In the medical field, blood gases, essentially pO ...

In this thesis, a new method has been developed, which determines the optical coefficients spectra (absorption and scattering) of small volumes of tissue (1 mm3) by the measurement of spatially resolved reflectance between 480 and 950 nm. Firstly, an algor ...

We present a MEMS infrared spectrometer for selective and quantitative chemical gas analysis. infrared absorption spectroscopy can distinguish gases easily and also detect nonreactive molecules like CO2, in contrast to e.g. metal oxide gas sensors The foll ...
