Differential cross sections for top quark pair (t (t) over bar) production are measured in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV using a sample of events containing two oppositely charged leptons. The data were recorded with the CMS ...

We report an improved study of the semileptonic decay

{D}^0\to {\overline{K}}^0{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{\nu}_e

based on a sample of 7.9 fb − 1 of e + e − annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII ...

Hyperbolic conservation laws play a critical role in various fields, including aerodynamics, physics, and oceanography. However, traditional physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), despite their remarkable capabilities in solving partial differential equ ...

We consider the motion of a harmonically trapped overdamped particle, which is submitted to a self-phoretic force, that is proportional to the gradient of a diffusive field for which the particle itself is the source. In agreement with existing results for ...

By analyzing (27.12 +/- 0.14) x 10(8) Psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decay processes X-cJ -> 3( K+ K- ) (J = 0, 1, 2) are observed for the first time with statistical significances of 8.2 sigma, 8. ...

In this Letter, we address the question of whether the conformal invariance can be considered as a global symmetry of a theory of fundamental interactions. To describe Nature, this theory must contain a mechanism of spontaneous breaking of the scale symmet ...

We show that effectively cold metastable states in one-dimensional photodoped Mott insulators described by the extended Hubbard model exhibit spin, charge, and q-spin separation. Their wave functions in the large on-site Coulomb interaction limit can be ex ...

We introduce a variational quantum algorithm to solve unconstrained black box binary optimization problems, i.e., problems in which the objective function is given as black box. This is in contrast to the typical setting of quantum algorithms for optimizat ...

With the advance of on-chip nanophotonics, there is a high demand for high-refractive-index and low-loss materials. Currently, this technology is dominated by silicon, but van der Waals (vdW) materials with a high refractive index can offer a very advanced ...

Spatiotemporal mode-locking in multimode fiber lasers is intriguing for the complex nonlinear dynamics and the increase of theoretical energy limit. In this paper, we enrich spatiotemporal mode-locking with dissipative soliton resonances, a kind of soliton ...

The progress of miniaturization in integrated electronics has led to atomic and nanometer-sized dopant devices in silicon. Such structures can be fabricated routinely by hydrogen resist lithography, using various dopants such as P and As. However, the abil ...

We carry out a weakly nonlinear analysis of the centrifugal instability for a columnar vortex in a rotating fluid, and compare the results to those of the semi-linear model derived empirically by Yim et al. (J. Fluid Mech., vol. 897, 2020, A34). The asympt ...

We introduce a novel thick-target concept tailored to the extraction of refractory 4d and 5d transition metal radionuclides of molybdenum, technetium, ruthenium and tungsten for radioactive ion beam production. Despite the more than 60-year old history of ...

We present the latest development of our in-house miniature atomic clock (LEMAC). The clock scheme is based on the continuous wave (CW) optical-microwave double resonance (DR) interrogation. Significant efforts have been put in a newly designed miniature m ...

The latest standard "New Dual" power module has been developed for both silicon and silicon-carbide devices to meet the increasing demands in high reliability and high temperature power electronic applications. Due to the new package is just starting to re ...

In semisupervised community detection, the membership of a set of revealed nodes is known in addition to the graph structure and can be leveraged to achieve better inference accuracies. While previous works investigated the case where the revealed nodes ar ...

Using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1 collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, the B0→D−D+K+π− decay is studied. A new excited D+s meson is observed decaying into the D+K+π− final state ...

Lightning physics is highly multidisciplinary, involving areas such as plasma physics, electrical engineering, meteorology, thermodynamics and particle physics. Upward lightning is a special type of lightning initiated from tall structures that has attract ...

Microscopic studies on thin film superconductors play an important role for probing non-equilibrium phase transitions and revealing dynamics at the nanoscale. However, magnetic sensors with nanometer scale spatial and picosecond temporal resolution are ess ...

Liquid-in-liquid droplets are typically generated by the partitioning of immiscible fluids, e.g. by mechanical shearing with macroscopic homogenisers or microfluidic flow focussing. In contrast, partially miscible liquids with a critical solution temperatu ...
