Sensors capable of detecting and classifying volatile organic compounds (VOC) have been gaining more attention by the advent of internet-of-things (IoT) enabled devices and integration of various sensing elements into hand-held and portable devices. The re ...

The present relates to a carbon material having a 3D structure and made of graphene oxide and carbon nanotubes, characterized in that the 3D structure consists in that the carbon nanotubes are located with some agglomeration between the graphene oxide laye ...

The thermal drawing process is emerging as a versatile platform for the development of multimaterial fiber devices and advanced textiles for sensing, energy harvesting or medical applications, owing to the possibility to integrate insulators, conductors an ...

High-permeance, molecular-sieving, nanoporous single-layer graphene (NSLG) membranes are highly promising for gas separation. However, the formation of cracks during the transfer of NSLG to a low-cost porous support is difficult to avoid. These cracks are ...

The preform-to-fiber thermal drawing process has been recently proposed for the fabrication of fibers and microchannels with submicrometer surface textures. To better control the final architecture and reach small feature size down to tens of nanometers ho ...

The association between carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and polymers to afford functional composites has been attributed to enthalpic interactions, neglecting the entropic depletion effect, in which bound solvents are released during the association process. Here, ...

Homogeneous and stable inorganic coating of SiO2, Al2O3 and TiO2 was obtained on the surface of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) by mechanically mixing them with precursor compounds in a planetary ball mill and by subsequent hydrolysis. Detailed studies ...

First of a kind SOLPS-ITER simulations on tokamak a configuration variable (TCV) that include nitrogen have been performed to model recent nitrogen seeded detachment experiments. Based on spectroscopic measurements, a nitrogen recycling coefficient R-p(N) ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) with mesoporous TiO2 electron transport layers have reached > 22% efficiency at laboratory scale ( < 1 cm(2)), however, these layers are fabricated using spin-coating, which is not conducive to large-scale or high throughput f ...

Thin-ply composites represent a promising approach to further improve the performance of carbon fibre composite structures thanks to their ability to delay the onset of matrix cracking and delamination up to the point of fibre dominated failure. However, t ...
