In this study, stereo particle imaging velocimetry measurements are performed at multiple streamwise locations behind a yawed wind turbine to reveal the formation mechanisms of the counter-rotating vortex pair (CVP), and a point vortex transportation (PVT) ...

We study the nonlinear evolution of the axisymmetric centrifugal instability developing on a columnar anticyclone with a Gaussian angular velocity using a semilinear approach. The model consists of two coupled equations: one for the linear evolution of the ...

The development of energy recovery systems on existing water utility networks is a new challenge for increasing the sustainability of electricity generation mix. The concept of the new micro-turbine with counter rotating runners braces this goal by allowin ...

Multi-rotor wind turbines have shown a faster wake recovery than equivalent single-rotor turbines. In this work the potential benefit of a wind farm with multi-rotor turbines is assessed through the optimization of the turbine positions using the CEGA wind ...

At partial load and overload conditions, Francis turbines are subjected to hydraulic instabilities that can potentially result in high dynamic solicitations of the turbine components and significantly reduce their lifetime. This study presents both experim ...

An asymmetry in the number density of left- and right-handed fermions is known to give rise to a new term in the induction equation that can result in a dynamo instability. At high temperatures, when a chiral asymmetry can survive for long enough, this chi ...

An optimized three-bladed horizontal-axis miniature wind turbine, called WiRE-01, with the rotor diameter of 15 cm is designed and fully characterized in Part I of this study. In the current part of the study, we investigate the interaction of the turbine ...
