Differential cross sections for top quark pair (t (t) over bar) production are measured in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV using a sample of events containing two oppositely charged leptons. The data were recorded with the CMS ...

Hyperbolic conservation laws play a critical role in various fields, including aerodynamics, physics, and oceanography. However, traditional physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), despite their remarkable capabilities in solving partial differential equ ...

The thermal conductivities of crystals and glasses vary strongly and with opposite trends upon heating, decreasing in crystals and increasing in glasses. Here, we show that the dominant conduction mechanisms of crystals (particle-like propagation) and glas ...

The work reported in this paper addresses two aspects. In the first part, numerical simulations are conducted to examine the impact of magnetic equilibrium shaping (elongation and triangularity), on both conventional Ion Temperature Gradient (ITG) modes an ...

Excessive power exhaust on divertor target remains a critical challenge for magnetic confinement fusion reactor based on the tokamak concept. If unmitigated, the power received on the divertor target will far exceed the material limit of 5-10MW/m2 in futur ...

Iodine oxoacids are recognised for their significant contribution to the formation of new particles in marine and polar atmospheres. Nevertheless, to incorporate the iodine oxoacid nucleation mechanism into global simulations, it is essential to comprehend ...

Metal oxide (MexOy) nanomaterials are used as catalysts and/or sorbents in processes taking place in supercritical water (scH2O), which is the “green” solvent needed to obtain energy-relevant products. Their properties are significantly influenced by the s ...

Continuous development of thin film deposition technologies is essential for the fabrication of films that meet the specific requirements of their target applications and working conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the number of accessible a ...

The current restrictions on the registration of combustion engines in different countries and the harmful impacts of fossil fuels on the environment and human health have motivated decision-makers to use batteries and/or fuel cells as alternatives for comb ...

SPIDER is the negative ion source testbed for ITER neutral beam injector. It is currently the largest negative ion source ever built, equipped with a 100 keV accelerator, aiming at producing a negative ion beam with an extracted current density in hydrogen ...

Plasma-molecular interactions generate molecular ions which react with the plasma and contribute to detachment through molecular activated recombination (MAR), reducing the ion target flux, and molecular activated dissociation (MAD), both of which create e ...

Computer simulations are often used as support material for science education, as they can engage students through inquiry-based learning, promote their active interaction in the experimentation phase, and help them visualize abstract concepts. For instanc ...

In this work, we study the impact of aspect ratio A = R 0 / r (the ratio of major radius R 0 to minor radius r) on the confinement benefits of negative triangularity (NT) plasma shaping. We use high-fidelity flux tube gyrokinetic GENE simulations and consi ...

Autotrophic nitrate-reducing Fe(II)-oxidizing (NRFeOx) microorganisms fix CO2 and oxidize Fe(II) coupled to denitrification, influencing carbon, iron, and nitrogen cycles in pH-neutral, anoxic environments. However, the distribution of electrons from Fe(II ...

Electron beam-generated plasmas (EBPs) have been used to modify the surface properties. In certain applications, EBPs are transversely confined and their properties are of value to the treatment. In this paper, the characteristics of an electron beam-gener ...

Reinforcement learning (RL) has shown promising results for real-time control systems, including the domain of plasma magnetic control. However, there are still significant drawbacks compared to traditional feedback control approaches for magnetic confinem ...

This paper shows first quantitative analysis of the detachment processes in the MAST Upgrade Super-X divertor (SXD). We identify an unprecedented impact of plasma-molecular interactions involving molecular ions (likely D2+ ), resulting in strong ion sinks ...

Electron cloud continues to be one of the main limiting factors of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the biggest accelerator at CERN. These clouds form in the beam chamber when positively charged particles are passing through and cause unwanted effects in b ...

The SMall Aspect Ratio Tokamak (SMART) under commissioning at the University of Seville, Spain, aims to explore confinement properties and possible advantages in confinement for compact/spherical tokamaks operating at negative vs. positive triangularity. T ...

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is one of the premier methods to synthesize ultra-thin materials on complex surfaces. The technique allows for precise control of the thickness down to single atomic layers, while at the same time providing uniform coverage ev ...
