The current study evaluates integrating fuel cell technology into the batteries as an alternative for internal combustion engines (ICEs) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). To further improve the performance of the UAV, a turbocharger is also integrated to ...

This work proposes a method for optimal planning (sizing and siting) energy storage systems (ESSs) in power distribution grids while considering the option of curtailing photo-voltaic (PV) generation. More specifically, for a given PV generation capacity t ...

Biorefineries hold the potential to provide products and energy carriers at reduced environmental impact compared to their fossil-based counterparts. Thus, they can contribute to the decarbonization of sectors in which electrification of demands is challen ...

The transition towards renewable energy is leading to an important strain on the energy grids. The question of designing and deploying renewable energy technologies in symbiosis with existing grids and infrastructure is arising. While current energy system ...

Low-carbon societies will need to store vast amounts of electricity to balance intermittent generation from wind and solar energy, for example, through frequency regulation. Here, we derive an analytical solution to the decision-making problem of storage o ...

Winged aerial robots and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) commonly referred to as winged drones and drones, are increasingly used in a wide range of professional and non-professional applications today, spanning from civilian to military. As a result, they ...

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a key electrochemical reac-tion relevant to energy storage. Ni-containing bimetallic oxyhydrox-ides are among the most active OER catalysts in alkaline medium, but the mechanism of OER on pure Ni oxyhydroxide remains ...

Intense winds are a challenge for vertical take-off and landing drones with wings. In particular, in the hovering regime, wings are sensitive to wind currents that can be detrimental to their operational and energetic performances. Tail-sitters are particu ...

With increasing power densities, runtime thermal management is becoming a necessity in today’s systems, especially so for highly integrated Multi-Processor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs). In this paper, we propose a neural network (NN) based approach to implemen ...
