In the past decades, a significant increase of the transistor density on a chip has led to exponential growth in computational power driven by Moore's law. To overcome the bottleneck of traditional von-Neumann architecture in computational efficiency, effo ...

Excitons play an essential role in the optical response of two-dimensional materials. These are bound states showing up in the band gaps of many-body systems and are conceived as quasiparticles formed by an electron and a hole. By performing real-time simu ...

A model is presented for simulating the electron beam within the entire gyrotron geometry using an electron optics code. The model incorporates the influence of the electromagnetic fields generated by the cavity's operational mode through a simple self-con ...

This paper proposes a tower-foot grounding system model compatible with EMT programs which might be useful for the simulation of lightning transients in overhead lines. The proposed model is based on the solution of the telegrapher's equations and the appl ...

The present invention concerns a bodily implantable or probe device and microelectrode fabrication method comprising providing at least one silicon substrate including an electronic device or unit; providing, on a first side of the silicon substrate, at le ...

Graphite has been intensively studied, yet its electron spins dynamics remains an unresolved problem even 70 years after the first experiments. The central quantities, the longitudinal (T-1) and transverse (T-2) relaxation times were postulated to be equal ...

Strain is an inevitable phenomenon in two-dimensional (2D) material, regardless of whether the film is suspended or supported. Moreover, strain is known to alter the physical and chemical properties, such as the band gap, charge carrier effective masses, d ...

Among numerous thin film synthesis methods, metalorganic chemical vapor deposition performed in a showerhead reactor is the most promising one for broad use in scalable and commercially adaptable two-dimensional material synthesis processes. Adapting the m ...

Graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) - one-dimensional strips of graphene - share many of the exciting properties of graphene, such as ballistic transport over micron dimensions, strength and flexibility, but more importantly, they exhibit a tunable band gap that d ...

Recently, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) has become an interesting platform for quantum optics due to its peculiar defect-related luminescence properties. Concomitantly, hBN was established as the ideal insulating support for realizing 2D materials devices, ...

This thesis investigates novel single-molecule luminescence phenomena at their inherent, sub-molecular length scale. The microscopic understanding of luminescence processes will be crucial for the continued improvement of organic optoelectronic and semicon ...

The work demonstrated in this thesis represent the path towards developing the large-scale fabrication of two-dimensional nanoporous membrane devices and use thereof as platforms to study nanoscale physics of water and ion flow through confined channels. M ...

High-voltage and high-power devices are indispensablein spacecraftfor outer space explorations, whose operations require aerospace materialswith adequate vacuum surface insulation performance. Despite persistentattempts to fabricate such materials, current ...

Experimental control of local spin-charge interconversion is of primary interest for spintronics. Van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures combining graphene with a strongly spin-orbit coupled two-dimensional (2D) material enable such functionality by design. ...

Polymers with high surface electric insulation capability are greatly demanded in various electrical devices operating in vacuum ambient. Low secondary electron emission (SEE) is favorable to mitigate vacuum flashover by inhibiting the SEE avalanche across ...

The discovery of superconductivity in doped infinite-layer nickelate thin films has brought increased attention to the behavior of the doped perovskite phase. Despite this interest, the majority of existing studies pertain to hole-doped perovskite rare-ear ...

A porous InGaN/GaN blue light-emitting diode is demonstrated using selective area sublimation. Transmission electron microscopy reveals that the structure is porous down to the Si substrate; however, the porosity is higher in the GaN buffer, while smaller ...

Skyrmions have been well studied in chiral magnets and magnetic thin films due to their potential application in practical devices. Recently, monochiral skyrmions have been observed in twodimensional van der Waals magnets. Their atomically flat surfaces an ...

This paper presents an experimental study of the wet freeze-thaw (FT) durability of a fibre-polymer composite produced by vacuum infusion using an innovative bio-based unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) and basalt fibres. As the benchmark, an equivalent com ...

Nanostructured graphitic materials, including graphene hosting Å to nanometer-sized pores, have attracted attention for various applications such as separations, sensors, and energy storage. Graphene with Å-scale pores is a promising next-generation materi ...
