Hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) devices on flexible substrates are currently being studied for application in dosimetry and beam flux measurements. The necessity of in vivo dosimetry requires thin devices with maximal transparency and flexibility. ...

Hybrid metal halide perovskites have demonstrated remarkable performances in modern photovoltaics, although their stabilities remain limited. We assess the capacity to advance their properties by relying on interfacial modulators featuring helical chiralit ...

Zinc phosphide (Zn3P2) is an earth-abundant semiconductor with promising properties for applications as an absorber in photovoltaics. To beat the 40 years old record power conversion efficiency of solar cells made with this material, a deep understanding o ...

In this article, we investigate the effect of prolonged light exposure on silicon heterojunction solar cells. We show that, although light exposure systematically improves solar cell efficiency in the case of devices using intrinsic and p-type layers with ...

Hybrids organic-inorganic perovskite(HOP) solar cells have unequivocally the potential for being a new generation of solar panels with a lower cost and a greater efficiency than well-known silicon solar panels. Today, even if HOPs are seen as one of the be ...

Polysilicon recombination junctions whose n-type bottom layers double as a passivating contact to the silicon surface are investigated. Such recombination junctions are a key element in the interconnection of tandem devices with a silicon bottom cell, and ...

Formamidinium (FA) lead halide (alpha-FAPbI(3)) perovskites are promising materials for photovoltaic applications because of their excellent light harvesting capability (absorption edge 840 nm) and long carrier diffusion length. However, it is extremely di ...

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have emerged as a potential candidate for high efficiency low-cost photovoltaic technology. However, the intrinsic and interfacial responses of PSCs under photo and bias-induced degradation and recovery have not been clearly u ...

Different climates may need different design strategies for optimal thermal performance of buildings: the relationship between different texture of the cities (their form and morphology), the energy demand of buildings and the outdoor microclimate are esse ...

Mesoporous carbon (MC)-imbedded tungsten carbide (W2C) composites are synthesized via a simple methodology and subsequently used as flexible counter electrodes (CEs) in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The W2C/MC composite possesses remarkable electroche ...

In this paper, we report the preparation of the precursor solutions for the deposition of Cu-Co-Mn-Si oxides by a sot-gel method in order to produce black selective coatings for CSP receiver tubes. Their optical properties were investigated by means of spe ...

Transition metal oxides are among the most promising solar materials, whose properties rely on the generation, transport and trapping of charge carriers (electrons and holes). Identifying the latter's dynamics at room temperature requires tools that combin ...

Urban morphology, including building typology and layout, has a significant influence on the built environment’s access to the sun, which impacts its energy exchange with the environment. This energy exchange is a strong factor in determining the comfort l ...

A novel class of Ru(II) sensitizers (TFRS-51-TFRS-54) with a 4,40'-dicarboxy-2,2'-bipyridine anchoring ligand and two trans-oriented isoquinolinyl (or quinolinyl) pyrazolate ancillaries were designed, characterized and used to fabricate dye sensitized sola ...

ZnO bilayer films were deposited by a low-pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition technique in a single process step, by doping with boron only the nucleation stage of the growth. The resulting 2 pm thick layers are characterized by low free carrie ...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) are considered as an emerging technology in order to replace conventional silicon solar cells or thin film solar cells such as amorphous silicon, CIGS, and CdTe. Liquid electrolytes containing iodide/triiodide redox couple ...

Thin film silicon solar cells are an attractive option for the production of sustainable energy but their low response at long wavelengths requires additional measures for absorption enhancement. The most successful concepts are based on light scattering i ...

A series of new it-conjugated organic dyes (HKK-BTZ1, HKK-BTZ2, HKK-BTZ3 and HKK-BTZ4), comprising triphenylamine (TPA) moieties as the electron donor and benzothiadiazole moieties as the electron acceptor/anchoring groups, was synthesized for the use in d ...

A sustainable route to store the energy provided by the Sun, is to directly convert sunlight into molecular hydrogen using a semiconductor performing water photolysis. Hematite (α-Fe2O3) is promising for this application due to its ample abundance, chemica ...

This work evaluated the possibility of using silicon solar cells as load-carrying elements in composite sandwich structures. Such an ultra-light multifunctional structure is a new concept enabling weight, and thus energy, to be saved in high-tech applicati ...
