An amplitude analysis of the Ds1(2460)+→Ds+π+π- transition is performed simultaneously in B0→D-Ds+π+π-, B+→D¯0Ds+π+π-, and B0→D*-Ds+π+π- decays. The study is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb detector at centre-of-ma ...

Measurements are presented of the cross-section for the central exclusive production of J/ψ → µ+µ− and ψ(2S) → µ+µ− processes in proton-proton collisions at ps = 13 TeV with 2016–2018 data. They are performed by requiring both muons to be in the LHCb accep ...

Noiseless compressive sensing is a two-step setting that allows for undersampling a sparse signal and then reconstructing it without loss of information. The LASSO algorithm, based on l(1) regularization, provides an efficient and robust way to address thi ...

The CODEX-β apparatus is a demonstrator for the proposed future CODEX-b experiment, a long-lived-particle detector foreseen for operation at IP8 during HL-LHC data-taking. The demonstrator project, intended to collect data in 2025, is described, with a par ...

Information theory has allowed us to determine the fundamental limit of various communication and algorithmic problems, e.g., the channel coding problem, the compression problem, and the hypothesis testing problem. In this work, we revisit the assumptions ...

A novel technique based on machine learning is introduced to reconstruct the decays of highly Lorentz boosted particles. Using an end-to-end deep learning strategy, the technique bypasses existing rule-based particle reconstruction methods typically used i ...

A measurement is presented of the production of Z bosons that decay into two electrons or muons in association with jets, in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data were cross sections are measured as a function of the trans ...

Biphoton frequency combs (BFCs) are promising quantum sources for large-scale and high-dimensional quantum information and networking systems. In this context, the spectral purity of individual frequency bins will be critical for realizing quantum networki ...

High energy density micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) are in high demand for miniaturized electronics and microsystems. Research efforts today focus on materials development, applied in the planar interdigitated, symmetric electrode architecture. A novel "cup & ...

This paper presents an experimental study of the wet freeze-thaw (FT) durability of a fibre-polymer composite produced by vacuum infusion using an innovative bio-based unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) and basalt fibres. As the benchmark, an equivalent com ...

Reconfigurable metalenses are compact optical components composed by arrays of meta-atoms that offer unique opportunities for advanced optical systems, from microscopy to augmented reality platforms. Although poorly explored in the context of reconfigurabl ...

Lensing without borders is a cross-survey collaboration created to assess the consistency of galaxy-galaxy lensing signals (Delta sigma) across different data sets and to carry out end-to-end tests of systematic errors. We perform a blind comparison of the ...

A micro- and nanoscale 3D printing technique is applied to fabricate a functional insulating material that mitigates surface discharge in a vacuum based on microscopic electron multipactor suppression. The proposed alumina ceramic insulator design consists ...

The design of user-level integrated energy systems is challenged by a variety of combinations of energy converters, complex cascade utilization of multiple energy flows, as well as sequential matching between stochastic energy resources and periodic energy ...

A search for electroweak production of supersymmetric (SUSY) particles in final states with one lepton, a Higgs boson decaying to a pair of bottom quarks, and large missing transverse momentum is presented. The search uses data from proton-proton collision ...

We observe CW-driven electron-photon interaction using a fiber-integrated high-Q Si3N4 microresonator, enabled by strong resonantly enhanced coupling with the confined optical mode. (C) 2021 The Author(s) ...

The extension of the Standard Model with two gauge-singlet Majorana fermions can simultaneously explain two beyond-the-Standard-model phenomena: neutrino masses and oscillations, as well as the origin of the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe. The ...

We demonstrate a non-linear measurement scheme of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect based on Joule self-heating that builds on ideas of the 3 ?-method used in thin films. While the temperature dependence of the resistance, R(T), of clean metals at low temperatu ...

We demonstrate single-stage thermo-optic Si3N4 interferometers with (46.1 +/- 2.5) dB average extinction ratio over 1460-1640 nm (approximate to 50x of typical devices). We analyze performance requirements for creating reconfigurable high-quality-factor re ...

We demonstrated a magnetic-free optical isolator for Si3N4 photonics using AlN piezoelectric actuators. Maximum of 10 dB isolation and
