Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is overexpressed on the surface of cancerous prostate cells both in primary tumors and in metastases. Small organic ligands targeting PSMA have been broadly and successfully use ...

Dendritic cells (DCs) are key regulators of immune responses, presenting antigen-derived peptides on major histocompatibility complexes (pMHCs) to T cells for recognition via their T cell receptors (TCRs). Despite the weak intrinsic affinity of the TCR-pMH ...

Dendritic cells (DCs) are specialized myeloid cells with the ability to uptake, process, and present antigens to T lymphocytes. They also generate cytokine and chemokine gradients that regulate immune cell trafficking, activation, and function. Monocyte-de ...

Early tumor detection is crucial for maximizing treatment effectiveness and the chances of recovery. Currently, medical doctors rely on the combination of non-specific (X-ray, MRI, CT) or invasive (PET) imaging modalities and the analysis of tissue samples ...

Gain-of-function mutations in NOTCH1 are among the most frequent genetic alterations in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), highlighting the Notch signaling pathway as a promising therapeutic target for personalized medicine. Yet, a major limitati ...

Retinoblastoma, while relatively rare, stands as the most prevalent intraocular cancer. In Switzerland, the survival rate approaches 100%, but it drops to less than 50% in low-income countries. The current treatment options for retinoblastoma rely on a lim ...

The present invention relates generally to the field of anti-cancer therapy and autoimmune therapy, in particular to the use of adoptive T cell transfer therapy. More specifically, the present invention relates to compositions, pharmaceutical compositions ...

Recognition of pathogen-derived molecules through germline-encoded receptors is a fundamental principle of innate immunity. Pattern recognition receptors detect specific intracellular danger signals to trigger potent immune responses. The DNA sensor cyclic ...

Colon cancer is initiated by stem cells that escape the strict control. This process is often driven through aberrant activation of Wnt signaling by mutations in components acting downstream of the receptor complex that unfetter tumor cells from the need f ...

Three-dimensional (3D) control over the placement of bioactive cues is fundamental to understand cell guidance and develop engineered tissues. Two-photon patterning (2PP) provides such placement at micro- to millimeter scale, but nonspecific interactions b ...

The management of advanced ovarian cancer is challenging due to the high frequency of recurrence, often associated with the development of resistance to platinum-based chemotherapy. Molecular analyses revealed the complexity of ovarian cancer with particul ...

Background: The importance of sex and gender as modulators of disease biology and treatment outcomes is well known in other disciplines of medicine, such as cardiology, but remains an undervalued issue in oncology. Considering the increasing evidence for t ...

INTRODUCTION: NSCLC is the leading cause of cancer mortality. Recent retrospective clinical analyses suggest that blocking the receptor activator of NF-κB (RANK) signaling pathway inhibits the growth of NSCLC and might represent a new treatment strategy. M ...

ProblemDevelopment of platinum resistance in ovarian cancer is mediated by both cancer cells and tumor microenvironment. Activation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition program in cancer cells may lead to enrichment for resistant clones. These processes ca ...

Background: The RAPTA-EA1 complex [ruthenium(II)-arene 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (pta) complex with an arene-tethered ethacrynic acid ligand] has been reported to overcome drug resistance that developed due to the current use of platinum-based treat ...

Colorectal cancer is treatable and curable when detected at early stages. However there is a lack of less invasive and more specific screening and diagnosis methods which would facilitate its prompt identification. Blood circulating autoantibodies which ar ...

Combined individually tailored methods for diagnosis and therapy (theragnostics) could be beneficial in destructive diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Nanoparticles are promising candidates for theragnostics due to their excellent biocompatibility. Na ...

We demonstrate that, with appropriate staining, high-resolution X-ray microscopy can image complicated tissue structures-cerebellum and liver-and resolve large or small amounts of Au nanoparticles in these tissues. Specifically, images of tumor tissue reve ...

Objective. About 70% of epithelial ovarian cancer patients (EOC) are diagnosed at advanced stage with a five-year survival rate of only 30%. Whilst CA125 detects peritoneally-spread disease, it has limited sensitivity for early cancers, many of which are p ...

Since several decades, the physicians are able to access hollow organs with endoscopic methods, which serve both as diagnostic and surgical means in a wide range of disciplines of the modern medicine (e.g. urology, pneumology, gastroenterology). Unfortunat ...
