Virtual environments need virtual humans that are capable of interacting with objects around them. Existing virtual environments have not found satisfactory general solutions for this problem. The common method is to combine pre-designed (or motion capture ...

The use of inhabited Virtual Environments is continuously growing. People can embody a human-like avatar to participate inside these Virtual Environments or they can have personalized character acting as mediator; sometimes they can even customize it to so ...

This paper proposes a novel method to control virtual characters in dynamic environments. A virtual character is animated by a locomotion and jumping engine, enabling production of continuous parameterized motions. At any time during runtime, flat obstacle ...

This paper presents a sketching system for 3D organic shapes modeling and animation using virtual reality devices. On the hardware side, it is based on the Haptic Workstation™ which conveys force feedback on the user arms (upper body limbs), and a head mou ...

Ever since the development of Computer Graphics in the industrial and academic worlds in the seventies, public knowledge and expertise have grown in a tremendous way, notably because of the increasing fascination for Computer Animation. This specific field ...

We aim to create a model of emotional reactive virtual humans. This model will help to define realistic behavior for virtual characters based on emotions and events in the virtual environment to which they react. A large set of pre-recorded animations will ...

This paper presents an innovative 3D reconstruction of ancient fresco paintings through the real-time revival of their fauna and flora, featuring groups of virtual animated characters with artificial-life dramaturgical behaviours in an immersive, fully mob ...

In this paper, we present research results and future challenges in creating realistic and believable virtual humans. To realize these modeling goals, real-time realistic representation is essential, but we also need interactive and perceptive virtual huma ...

The virtual orchestra is a multimodal system architecture based on complex 3D sound environment processing and a compact user interface. The system architecture supports high-performance sound content for VR (virtual reality) applications, and the user con ...
