Metasurfaces can be employed for designing waveguides that confine the electromagnetic energy while they are open structures. In this communication, we introduce a new type of such waveguides, formed by two penetrable metasurfaces having complementary isot ...

Local inversion symmetry breaking in centrosymmetric materials can lead to large spin polarization of the electronic band structure in separate sectors of the unit cell. Here, the authors reveal such hidden spin polarisation in ZrSiTe using spin and angle ...

Recently, investigation of metasurfaces has been extended to wave control through exploiting nonlinearity. Among all of the ways to achieve tunable metasurfaces with multiplexed performances, nonlinearity is one of the promising choices. Although several p ...

Neutron diffraction with static and pulsed magnetic fields is used to directly probe the magnetic structures in LiNiPO4 up to 25 T and 42 T, respectively. By combining these results with magnetometry and electric polarization measurements under pulsed fiel ...

Quasicrystals are aperiodically ordered structures with unconventional rotational symmetry. Their peculiar features have been explored in photonics to engineer bandgaps for light waves. Magnons (spin waves) are collective spin excitations in magnetically o ...

We propose a bianisotropic hybrid metal-dielectric structure comprising dielectric and metallic cylindrical wedges wherein the composite metacylinder enables advanced control of electric, magnetic, and magnetoelectric resonances. We establish a theoretical ...

This paper focuses on depth of field (DOF) extension through polarization aberrations. The addition of polarizing elements into an optical system allows to exploit the polarization of the incoming light as an additional degree of freedom in the optical sys ...

Recent developments have enabled the practical realization of optical elements in which the polarization of light may vary spatially. We present an extension of Fourier optics-matrix Fourier optics-for understanding these devices and apply it to the design ...

Personalization is pervasive in the online space as it leads to higher efficiency for the user and higher revenue for the platform by individualizing the most relevant content for each user. However, recent studies suggest that such personalization can lea ...

This article aims at studying the angular scattering properties of bianisotropic metasurfaces and clarifying the different roles played by tangential and normal polarization densities. Different types of metasurfaces are considered for this study and are c ...

Moving towards an increased understanding of the dynamic processes in the edge of tokamak plasmas requires continuous innovation in diagnostic capabilities, pushing the envelope in both spatial and temporal dimenstions. Plasma density and rotation, and the ...

We present a methodology to quantify polarization and electron affinity changes at interfaces by combining scanning tunneling spectroscopy, off-axis electron holography in transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and self-consistent calculations of the elec ...

Computational nanophotonics has already made a disruptive impact on the photonic and optoelectronic industries and has dramatically influenced the ways today's optical engineers create, optimize, and use innovative materials and computer-aided services. Th ...
