A search is presented for the resonant production of a pair of standard model-like Higgs bosons using data from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC in 2016-2018, corresponding to an ...

In Part I of this paper a method for the Harmonic Stability Assessment (HSA) of power systems with a high share of Converter-Interfaced Distributed Energy Resources (CIDERs) was proposed. Specifically, the Harmonic State-Space (HSS) model of a generic powe ...

Analyzing neutron noise in zero-power reactors provides information about integral parameters, such as the prompt decay constant

\alpha

alpha. This information can be used to validate codes that predict said parameters, or time-dependent behavior, part ...

A search for an exotic decay of the Higgs boson to a Z boson and a light pseudoscalar particle (a), decaying to a pair of leptons and a pair of photons, respectively, is presented. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass ene ...

After rapid approval and installation, the SND@LHC Collaboration was able to gather data successfully in 2022 and 2023. Neutrino interactions from nu(mu)s originating at the LHC IP1 were observed. Since muons constitute the major background for neutrino in ...

At CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC), proton and heavy-ion beams are accelerated to multi-TeV energies to be collided for the needs of the scientific community around the world. The total stored beam energy of tens to hundreds ofMJ creates potential threa ...

An amplitude analysis of the B0→K∗0μ+μ- decay is presented. The analysis is based on data collected by the LHCb experiment from proton-proton collisions at s=7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb-1. For the first time, Wilson ...

The Scattering and Neutrino Detector at the LHC (SND@LHC) started taking data at the beginning of Run 3 of the LHC. The experiment is designed to perform measurements with neutrinos produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC in an energy range between ...

Nature Photonics spoke with Hatice Altug, from the & Eacute;cole Polytechnique F & eacute;d & eacute;rale de Lausanne (EPFL), Thomas Krauss, from the University of York, and Malini Olivo from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) about o ...

A search is reported for near-threshold structures in the J=ψJ=ψ invariant mass spectrum produced in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV from data collected by the CMS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 135 fb-1. Three structures ...

The first study of the shapes of jets arising from bottom (b) quarks in heavy ion collisions is presented. Jet shapes are studied using charged hadron constituents as a function of their radial distance from the jet axis. Lead-lead (PbPb) collision data at ...

Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor (DMAPS) sensors developed in the Tower Semiconductor 180 nm CMOS imaging process have been designed in the context of the ATLAS ITk upgrade Phase-II at the HL-LHC and for future collider experiments. The "MALTA-Czoch ...

The first observation of the Λb0→Ds−pΛb0→Ds−p decay is presented using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of ss = 13 TeV, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 6 fb−1−1. Using the Λb0→Λc ...

We present a comprehensive study shedding light on how thermal fluctuations affect correlations in a Bose gas with contact repulsive interactions in one spatial dimension. The pair correlation function, the static structure factor, and the one-body density ...

Higher-order asymptotics provide accurate approximations for use in parametric statistical modelling. In this thesis, we investigate using higher-order approximations in two-specific settings, with a particular emphasis on the tangent exponential model. ...

Searches for the rare hadronic decays B0→p¯pp¯p and B0s→p¯pp¯p are performed using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. Significances of 9.3σ and 4.0σ, including statistical ...
