Analyzing neutron noise in zero-power reactors provides information about integral parameters, such as the prompt decay constant

\alpha

alpha. This information can be used to validate codes that predict said parameters, or time-dependent behavior, part ...

A classical particle moving in a periodic potential can localize inside a single potential minimum, but a quantum particle forms extended states by tunnelling to neighbouring minima. These two limits are separated by a quantum Schmid-Bulgadaev phase transi ...

A discharge with electron temperature up to 14 keV has been achieved in EAST. Analysis of the electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) efficiency at high electron temperature under EAST parameters is presented using C3PO/LUKE code. Simulation results show t ...

We model interactions following the Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) framework in disordered graphene flakes up to 300 000 atoms in size (-100 nm in diameter) subjected to an out-of-plane magnetic field B of 5-20 Tesla within the tight-binding formalism. We investi ...

The discovery of superconductivity in doped infinite-layer nickelate thin films has brought increased attention to the behavior of the doped perovskite phase. Despite this interest, the majority of existing studies pertain to hole-doped perovskite rare-ear ...

One of the major problems for future tokamak devices are ELMs (Edge Localized Modes) as they can lead to large, uncontrolled heat fluxes at the machine targets. For this reason, different techniques and alternative magnetic configurations are under study t ...

We present a comprehensive study shedding light on how thermal fluctuations affect correlations in a Bose gas with contact repulsive interactions in one spatial dimension. The pair correlation function, the static structure factor, and the one-body density ...

A Finite Element Model is used to observe the build-up of residual thermal stresses during the sintering process in two WC-Co samples with different volume fractions of Co. A realistic model of the two phase material is obtained by FIB slicing a real WC-Co ...

In this Letter we address the reentrance of magic-angle phenomena (band flatness and quantum-geometric transport) in twisted bilayer graphene (TBG) subjected to strong magnetic fluxes +/-(1)0, +/- 200, +/- 3(p0 ... ((D0 = h/e is the flux quantum per moire ...

This paper addresses the complexity reduction of stochastic homogenization of a class of random materials for a stationary diffusion equation. A cost-efficient approximation of the correctors is obtained using a method designed to exploit quasi-periodicity ...

The technological barriers of the dimensional engineering and interfacial instability seriously hinder the scalable production of metallic (1T) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) monolayers. In this article, a facile and fast electron injection strateg ...

In the framework of mixed Higgs-Starobinsky inflation, we consider the generation of Abelian gauge fields due to their nonminimal coupling to gravity (in two different formulations of gravity-metric and Palatini). We couple the gauge-field invariants F mu ...

Conductive-type dynamics in complex systems in the framework of Scale Relativity Theory are analyzed. Using the Madeling scenario in the description o f complex system dynamics through continuous and nondifferentiable curves (fractal/multifractal curves), ...

Capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) have been widely utilized in applications of biomolecule monitoring, ultrasound medical diagnosis, and ultrasound therapy because of their advantages in high-level integration with integrated circuits ...

Tin (Sn)-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted much attention because they are more environmentally friendly than lead-based PSCs. However, the fast crystallization of Sn-based perovskite films and the easy oxidation of Sn2+ to Sn4+ hinder the ...

Electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions are pervasive in condensed matter, governing phenomena such as transport, superconductivity, charge-density waves, polarons, and metal-insulator transitions. First-principles approaches enable accurate calculations of e- ...

In this paper, we study the behavior of miniaturized high-order waveguide filters, constructed by loading a hollow metallic waveguide with resonant pins, to form a locally-resonant metamaterial. Such composite pin-pipe structure supports a guided-mode with ...

Imaging the (sub)micron scale over large areas with high temporal resolution becomes increasingly necessary for the development and investigation of novel materials under realistic operation conditions. Small angle x-ray scattering imaging methods provide ...

Adjoint-based sensitivity analysis is routinely used today to assess efficiently the effect of open-loop control on the linear stability properties of unstable flows. Sensitivity maps identify regions where small-amplitude control is the most effective, i. ...
