We consider a narrow magneto-dipole transition in the Tm-169 atom at the wavelength of 1.14 mu m as a candidate for a two-dimensional-optical lattice clock. Calculating dynamic polarizabilities of the two clock levels [Xe]4f(13)6s(2)(J = 7/2) and [Xe]4f(13 ...

Many molecule bonds have vibration frequencies in the mid-infrared band. Thus, this band is of great interest to molecular spectroscopy, material processing and medical applications. However, many optical materials typically used for laser sources experien ...

Diamond is an exceptional material - hard, stiff, transparent, which makes it ideal for the fabrication of optical and mechanical systems that take advantage of these properties. Diamond is not only "better", but it offers the possibility of integrating br ...

Frequency-comb-assisted diode laser spectroscopy, employing both the accuracy of an optical frequency comb and the broad wavelength tuning range of a tunable diode laser, has been widely used in many applications. In this Letter, we present a novel method ...

Femtosecond laser-dielectric interaction in a three-dimensional (3D) manner defines a capable platform for integrated 3D micro-devices fabricated out of a single piece of system-material. Here, we add a new function to femtosecond laser-based single monoli ...

Narrowband photodetectors are useful for a myriad of applications involving color discrimination as well as biological imaging and machine vision. Prevalent devices use broadband light absorbing materials in conjunction with electric (charge collection nar ...

Optical nanocavities enhance light-matter interaction due to their high quality factors (Q) and small modal volumes (V). The control of light-matter interaction lies at the heart of potential applications for integrated optical circuits, including optical ...

Recent progress in the fabrication and performance of 1.3-mu m 10-Gb/s, low power consumption wafer-fused VCSELs grown by MOVPE under nitrogen atmosphere are presented and discussed. By optimization of the growth conditions and implementation of a cavity a ...
