The frequency response data of a generalized system is used to design fixed-structure controllers for the H2 and H∞ synthesis problem. The minimization of the two and infinity norm of the transfer function between the exogenous inputs and performance outpu ...

This paper proposes a data-driven control design method for nonlinear systems that builds upon the Koopman operator framework. In particular, the Koopman operator is used to lift the nonlinear dynamics to a higher-dimensional space where the so-called obse ...

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators (DEAs) have emerged as versatile and promising devices for a multitude of applications, including soft robotics, haptic interfaces, and artificial muscles. DEAs are an interesting soft actuator technology due to their high en ...

Modern power distribution systems are experiencing a large-scale integration of Converter-Interfaced Distributed Energy Resources (CIDERs). Their presence complicates the analysis and mitigation of harmonics, whose creation and propagation may be amplified ...

Frequency Response Function (FRF)-based control synthesis methods for Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) systems have been widely used in control theory and industry. Recently, there has been renewed interest in these methods, employing numerical optimization too ...

A novel approach for robust controller synthesis, which models uncertainty as an elliptical set, is proposed in the paper. Given a set of frequency response functions of linear time-invariant (LTI) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, the approac ...

The ability to control high-voltage actuator arrays relies, to date, on expensive microelectronic processes or on individual wiring of each actuator to a single off-chip high-voltage switch. Here we present an alternative approach that uses on-chip photoco ...

This contribution presents an isotropic magnetic field probe with shaped frequency response in the band 100 kHz - 400 MHz to ponder the aggregate response according to the ICNIRP 2020 guidelines. The basic sensor is a printed loop which is modelled as a Th ...

Cartesian robots have position-dependent dynamics that should be accounted for in high performance applications. Traditional methods design Linear Time Invariant (LTI) controllers which are robustly stable with respect to position variations, but require a ...

In this paper, we present the first results of a systematically designed multi-input multi-output gas-injection controller on Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV). We demonstrate the simultaneous real-time control of the NII emission front position and l ...

Dynamical System (DS)-based closed-loop control is a simple and effective way to generate reactive motion policies that well generalize to the robotic workspace, while retaining stability guarantees. Lately the formalism has been expanded in order to handl ...

Systematic extraction of locally valid dynamic models from experiments is necessary for controller design and the validation of high fidelity models. This paper describes the extraction of a dynamic model in the form of a transfer function, giving the dyna ...

Today, automatic control is integrated into a wide spectrum of real-world systems such as electrical grids and transportation networks. Many of these systems comprise numerous interconnected agents, perform safety-critical operations, or generate large amo ...

We introduce HP, an implementation of density-functional perturbation theory, designed to compute Hubbard parameters (on-site U and inter-site V ) in the framework of DFT+U and DFT+U+V. The code does not require the use of computationally expensive superce ...

This paper presents experimental testing of a new semi-active vibration control device comprising a shape memory polymer (SMP) core that is reinforced by an SMP-aramid composite skin. This control device works as a load-transfer component that can be integ ...

Many engineering fields rely on frequency-domain dynamical systems for the mathematical modeling of physical (electrical/mechanical/etc.) structures. With the growing need for more accurate and reliable results, the computational burden incurred by frequen ...

We consider an optimal control problem (OCP) for a partial differential equation (PDE) with random coefficients. The optimal control function is a deterministic, distributed forcing term that minimizes an expected quadratic regularized loss functional. For ...

We consider the numerical approximation of an optimal control problem for an elliptic Partial Differential Equation (PDE) with random coefficients. Specifically, the control function is a deterministic, distributed forcing term that minimizes the expected ...

We propose a new control approach for the twisted string actuation (TSA) system; a hybrid control scheme consisting of two nested loops, considering the motor angle and the axial force at the clamping point of the actuator as the system outputs. We show th ...

This letter presents closed-loop position control of a pneumatically actuated modular robotic platform "pneumagami" that can be stacked to enlarge work and design space for wearable applications. The module is a 3 degrees of freedom (DoF) parallel robot wi ...
