Ultra-cold Fermi gases exhibit a rich array of quantum mechanical properties, including the transition from a fermionic superfluid Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) state to a bosonic superfluid Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). While these properties can be p ...

In the published paper titled 'Model-based impurity emission front control using deuterium fueling and nitrogen seeding in TCV' (2023 Nucl. Fusion 63 026006), the legend of figure 5 shows the wrong colors: red and blue are switched. This corrigendum provid ...

The arise of disagreement is an emergent phenomenon that can be observed within a growing social group and, beyond a certain threshold, can lead to group fragmentation. To better understand how disagreement emerges, we introduce an analytically tractable m ...

More than a century after the performance of the oil drop experiment, the possible existence of fractionally charged particles (FCPs) still remains unsettled. The search for FCPs is crucial for some extensions of the Standard Model in particle physics. Mos ...

Solving the dendrite growth problem is critical for the development of lithium metal anode for high-capacity batteries. In this work, a machine learning force field model in combination with a self-consistent continuum solvation model is used to simulate t ...

The sawtooth instability is known for inducing transport and loss of energetic particles (EPs), and for generating seed magnetic islands that can trigger tearing modes. Both effects degrade the overall plasma performance. Several theories and numerical mod ...

We propose a model for combining the Standard Model (SM) with gravity. It relies on a nonminimal coupling of the Higgs field to the Ricci scalar and on the Palatini formulation of gravity. Without introducing any new degrees of freedom in addition to those ...

Scientific progress has always been driven by the ability to build an instrument to answer a specific question. But spreading the news of how to replicate that tool is an evolving art, ripe for an open-source revolution. ...

We theoretically investigate the magnetoelastic coupling (MEC) and its effect on magnon transport in two-dimensional antiferromagnets with a honeycomb lattice. MEC coefficients along with magnetic exchange parameters and spring constants are computed for m ...

Vector-chiral (VC) antiferromagnetism is a spiral-like ordering of spins which may allow ferroelectricity to occur due to loss of space inversion symmetry. In this Letter we report direct experimental observation of ferroelectricity in the VC phase of beta ...

We demonstrate a hybrid photonic integrated laser with intrinsic linewidth of 40 Hz, while offering megahertz actuation bandwidth with the tuning range larger than 1 GHz, attained by a DFB laser self-injection locking to a high-Q Si3N4 microresonator with ...

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measures the binding energy of core-level electrons, which are well-localised to specific atomic sites in a molecular system, providing valuable information on the local chemical environment. The technique relies on m ...

Excitons, Coulomb-bound electron-hole pairs, are the fundamental excitations governing the optoelectronic properties of semiconductors. Although optical signatures of excitons have been studied extensively, experimental access to the excitonic wave functio ...

We present DT neutron rate extrapolations for the baseline and hybrid scenarios of the imminent JET DTE2 experimental campaign using the Monte Carlo heating code ASCOT, using empirically scaled plasmas parameters as inputs. The scalings used are based on t ...

Path integrals play a crucial role in describing the dynamics of physical systems subject to classical or quantum noise. In fact, when correctly normalized, they express the probability of transition between two states of the system. In this work, we show ...

In this article, we present a closed-form solution for transcapacitances in GaN HEMTs derived from a design-oriented charge-based model of the AlGaAs/GaAs- and AlGaN/GaN-based HEMTs that were recently proposed. The analytical expressions are based on the c ...

A search for CP violation in the Lambda(0)(b) -> p pi(-) pi(+) pi(-) decay is performed using LHCb data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.6 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV. The analysis uses both ...

A Doppler shifted resonance minority species ion cyclotron range of frequency (ICRF) scheme for heating neutral beam ions has been identified and optimized for theWendelstein 7-X stellarator. Compared with more conventional methods, the synergetic scheme i ...

We consider the S-matrix bootstrap of four-dimensional scattering amplitudes with O(3) symmetry and no bound states. We explore the allowed space of scattering lengths which parametrize the interaction strength at threshold of the various scattering channe ...

Frustrated spin-1/2 chains, despite the apparent simplicity, exhibit a remarkably rich phase diagram comprising vector-chiral (VC), spin-density-wave (SDW), and multipolar/spin-nematic phases as a function of the magnetic field. Here we report a study of b ...
