Resist-based lithographic tools, such as electron beam (e beam) and photolithography, drive today's state-of-the-art nanoscale fabrication. However, the multistep nature of these processes, expensive resists, and multiple other consumables limit their pote ...

The widely different effects of Cu-polyester (PES) sputtered by high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS) compared to the lower energy direct current magnetron sputtering (DCMS) leading to bacterial inactivation are addressed during the course of th ...

Semiconductor nanowires are interesting building blocks for a variety of electronic and optoelectronic applications, and they provide an excellent platformto probe fundamental physical effects. For the realization of nanowire based devices, a deep understa ...

Insight is provided in this study for the effect of the TiO2film densification/compactness on polyethy-lene (PE-TiO2) by sputtering TiO2at two very different energy levels. Uniform, adhesive low energy filmswere prepared by direct current magnetron sputter ...

The present invention provides a porous semiconductor electrode passivated by way of a layer applied by an atomic layer deposition (ALD) process. The semiconductor electrode can be advantageously used in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) having increase op ...

Molecular heterojunctions, such as the one based on copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) and carbon fullerene (C-60) molecules, are commonly employed in organic photovoltaic cells as electron donor-acceptor pairs. We have investigated the different atomic structur ...

In this contribution, the replication of nano-textures enhancing the short circuit current of thin film silicon solar cells onto low cost substrates (glass or PolyEthylene Naphtalate (PEN)) is studied. Optical and morphological analysis is performed to ass ...

We present advanced light trapping concepts for thin film silicon solar cells. When an amorphous and a microcrystalline absorber layers are combined into a micromorph tandem cell, light trapping becomes a challenge because it should combine the spectral re ...

Tandem solar cells using different bandgap absorbers allow efficient photovoltaic conversion in a wide range of the solar spectrum. The optical gaps of the dye-sensitized solar cell and the Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cell are ideal for application in double-junctio ...
