Solar powered redox cells (SPRCs) are promising for large-scale and long-term storage of solar-energy, particularly when coupled with redox flow batteries (RFBs). While efforts have primarily focused on heterostructure engineering, the potential of synergi ...

In this thesis, the feasibility and performance of photo-driven electrochemical (PEC) devices working at elevated temperatures (T>700 K) is investigated and modeled. In such high-temperature PEC devices, a part of the solar spectrum is used for generating ...

Heterojunction carrier selective contacts for solar cells have gained great attention because of the ability of these contacts to efficiently collect majority carriers while hindering the recombination of minority carriers, thus resulting in the highest re ...

Environmental challenges impose a rapid energy transition. The renewable power capacity is expected to increase by 50% in the next 5 years, and recent scenarios plan that photovoltaics (PV) will be leading the new energy sources. Combining high efficiencie ...

At the current time, the world as we know it is at a crossroads; there is an urgent need to lower greenhouse gas emissions to limit the global rise in temperature. However, this is at odds with the increasing energy demands of the world's growing populatio ...

Aqueous zinc metal batteries with mild acidic electrolytes are considered promising candidates for large-scale energy storage. However, the Zn anode suffers from severe Zn dendrite growth and side reactions due to the unstable interfacial pH and the absenc ...

N-type nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si:H(n)) layers are good candidates to improve current and transport properties in heterojunction solar cells. In this work, we perform thickness series alongside PH3 doping series to unravel the desirable characteristics ...

Over the past decade, lead halide perovskites (LHPs) have received considerable attention thanks to their impressive optoelectronic properties. Today, LHP-based devices are one of the most efficient single-junction solar cells, with power-conversion effici ...

Renewable energy deployment and implementation of a circular economy will play a crucial role in decreasing CO2 emissions to meet the target from the Paris agreement. Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) can be designed in various colors and transparency for ...
